Caffeine Addiction
Hello
I decided two weeks ago to give up (most) caffeine. I drunk roughly 2 litres of Pepsi Max per day, and some coffee if at work. I didn't think that it had an effect, but having read a site about Caffeine addiction, then I certainly suffered some of the symptoms: Mood swings, Tiredness, Insomnia (cured with beer!), etc...
Has anyone else tried this? I actually feel better, and haven't had as many cravings as I thought.
I do have a cup of tea in the morning though (about 30mg of Caffeine).
Steve.

I'm trying to cutback on caffiene too - normally go through about 8-9 cups a day at work.
now have a decaf in the morning - and either tea or hot chocolate for the rest of the day.
...and yes, I know all three still contain some caffeine.
badheads are now commonplace...

I suffered with a minor heart complaint last year called "Sinus Tachycardia", meaning an elevated heart rate and palpitations.
Giving up Caffeine has cured it.
So there I was still breathing heavilly whilst at reast, heart racing, palpitations... AND... Suffering headaches thanks to caffeine withdrawal!!
Sorted now.
The decaf teas and coffees availbale now taste no different, but go knows what nast stuff they contain instead.

fp: yes, it's quite addictive! If you drink coffee, tea or cola now - try giving it up for a week. See if you notice any side-effects. I tried that once and got killer headaches.
A good indication to cut back!

like most addictions you should cut them back slowly. Give them suddenly and your bodies likely to start complaining.
Try giving up caffeine AND sugar (from your diet) at the same time

was'nt addicted to it, but was taking a fitness supplement with caffeine in an started to suffer from the above, so much so it was effecting my work. almost twated 2 people(seperate incidents) when out on the drink which is very unlike me, though in fairness i'd had 6 pints of stella and a few jd`s but they were both out of line, normally i would'nt have reacted the way i did, so i,ve stopped taking the supplement(which was working) and stopped drinking stella for the time being.

Gave up coffee years ago. *Had* to drink some Starbucks crap the other day. I felt like I'd done half a gram of speed
It was horrible, and I couldn't finish it.... and the 'buzz' lasted about 4 hours.
Sugar too. Stopped that when I started working in offices. Teeth in sugar solution all day = not good.
BTW I don't miss any of it....

My blood pressure was quite high a while ago, so I decided to cut out coffee, except for one in the morning, then maybe one later in the day. But no more than 2 per day.
I now drink about 5-8 pints of water per day, and I feel a tad healthier, and I don't get moody any more, Cause caffiene makes me moody for some reason

Caffeine makes me moody as well especially in the mornings, which is why I stopped. My wife didn't quite know what had happened.
Having looked at a few sites, that is one of the "symptoms" of being addicted.
My problem was compounded by the fact that I was working at home, and hence drank Pepsi almost constant during the day. Really not good for you at all.

heh, I do that every monday morning. massive caffiene and sugar crash on a monday morning following a weekend with a rave.
A lot of it depends what sort of caffiene you are taking though. Proplus is nasty dirty horrible stuff. PEP from superdrug are nice and gentle
All IMHO of course.
