Well he hasn't skipped bail and appeared at the police station this morning to be charged. He has apparently said he will plead guilty to stealing my bike, damaging my bike, riding with no insurance or license, but is going to plead not guilty for assaulting a police officer.
Now this means apparently if he does this at the first hearing it wont go to court and I don't get to meet him as the first hearing is a closed court where the charges are put to him.
Is this the case or are the police trying to stop me from getting his personal details which will be read out as they know very well I am eager to have these details. I have been told by colleagues and friends that the first hearing should be open court as they wish to attend with me and have the details as well.
The police have warned me he is a very nasty piece of work and a very big bloke and that I shouldn't go near him. They are bikers themselves and know that I don't want him getting away lightly with doing what he did to my bike (£1600 of damage on top of the stress and hassle of getting it back) I have assured them I don't have any illegal intentions, just some investigation into where he might have a lock up containing a large number of other stolen bikes. Apparently I don't need to worry about this although wont tell you what they said as I don't want anything to **** up what they got in mind. Still want to make sure myself with others though that he does get done for all the other **** he has done and so far got away with.
I still want to know his details, although I think I might have been given them indiscreetly and will have to check to see if they are correct
Anyone know if the first court hearing where charges are read out are actually open courts? Also he will still have to be sentenced so surely this will go to a seperate hearing and this will be an open court?
This is one thieving scum bag who is not going to get away lightly if I get my way
And to add, the police have really been superb over this, have upped my opinion of them massively from previous bad experiences I have had with them. Very detailed and informative conversations with them and have been far better than I would ever have imagined. Plus they are doing everything they can to persuade the court I should be paid damages to cover the cost of my bike repairs. Reassuring to see they are not all just out catching speeding motorists.

OK so I take it it will be the local court to the police station he has been charged at. The police station is in Bethnel Green and the scum bag lives in Bow. How can I find out what the local court house is without actually asking the police when I speak to them?

Have a word with a friendly plod linked to the case - he / she could always leave a notepad openly carelessly or you could over hear them discussing and mentioning the scroates address!

In my experience in this area the police can be more than helpful if they get the impression you're basically on their side as it were and fairly sensible. This might not apply if they think you're going to just go and have a dig at the bloke as it's 50-50 it'll just cause more trouble for them. Sounds like that's not what you've got in mind?

Scooby96 its the friendly plod who doesn't want me to get the scumbags address for fear of me paying him a personal visit and things getting a bit out of hand. Thats not the purpose I want it for but he isnt going to believe that is he, plus he is not allowed to go giving me those details.
Think I might have been given enough info to work out his address with a bit of investigation through 192.com etc anyway

Blue like I said earlier, me and a few people want his details to do a bit of personal investigating as to where he may be keeping other stolen bikes. Him and his gang I am sure will have a lock up/garage somewhere thats got at least a few bikes in it. He is also number one suspect for the majority of all the bike thefts across the city lately so has most probably got a right little gold mine somewhere! He doesn't seem to be selling them on but keeping them for track days for him and his mates. Thats a bit of info one of his mates let slip when I was talking to him at the police station.

Blue no worries there. We want to catch him going to his little den of bikes. We dont want a full on confrontation with the tw@t although its very tempting, but wouldn't get me anywhere except in trouble with the same blokes who have just helped me!
If he caught us then we'd deal with it. Me and the others arnt excctly small blokes ourselves, it wont come to this though.

Luke no worries, he is already bang to rights with a bit of luck. They have my registration number from nicking the bike so if they really want to find me they will know where to come anyway if they have the knowledge/contacts of where to match reg with address.
To be honest though if they are thick enough to ride round on stolen property with the original plates on they cant be that intelligent Just a bunch of thieving gits who nick bikes for track days.
Will see what happens with sentencing, if he gets banged up for a short while his details will be no good to me anyway. He has previous and with all the other stuff thats going on he could well have a lot more to his name than just my bike by the time the police are finished with him. CID are on top of him like a tonne of bricks at the moment I just hope they recover all the bikes he has nicked and send him away for a quite a while.

Fair play mate, dont let him get away with it
Glad to hear someone is standing up for themselves instead
of (oh well) dont want to be in trouble
If someone stole my stuff would rather go down than let them get away with it

Good to hear this ****e is going to get sown up. It may be an idea to speak to your local newspaper reporter who covers this sort of thing. He will give you all sorts of info. and if he can't, he will certainly point you in the right direction.
Good luck mate, good to hear you won't let it go.

If you are not compensated for your loss then you can take a civil action out against them , the police will have to give you their details then , I have done this but was told by the police that I was to take no illegal action against them or else , So I didn't - someone else did

Yeah Buzzer, he was in Court on the 30th but he pleaded not guilty, mainly because of the cahrge against assaulting a police officer which would have got him 2 years just on its own. So its off to trial now which is what I wanted anyway so I get to meet him
Have to wait and hear about when the trial will be but will be a while apparently.
Once I have his details I shall post them here, the biker forum and all over the net and every biker forum I can find
Hopefully the jury will do me justice and find him guilty on all charges and the judge should then send him down for a nice little stretch
Will wait and see!

bravo - good luck. i like the idea of small claims court action - if he pleads guilty does that basically mean that he's got no chance in the small claims court? but i guess he might not pay or seek revenge?
