Yep me too, huge, unwieldy and the kepad insisted on giving a 3 and 4 when only a 3 was required for a number.

Absolute waste of time.

Thank god for my old Nokia 3410, come back all is forgiven !

We still like our 808's.
You do need to charge them each night and there are some quirks.
Overall though there are enough positives.
3 coverage isn't everywhere but it reverts to 02...works well enough for us let's say.
Lovely big colour screen.
Music and videos.
Loadsa bundled minutes with the monthly contract and cheap minutes for PAYG.

I think the 808's and 606's are just about all gone now,(you'd have to search for the deals now), and the new phones will get better and better.

Have a look on aussie3g.com for opinions of users, they seem to have a larger rollout there. They even have access to the internet!

If you make a call on the y version holding it up to your head ie not using you handfree because of the size of it it looks like you have got two heads...
I carried the 3 phone (with aid of wheelbarrow) and my orange 3510i around together the orange was nearly always in service the 3 was always beeping where it was changing from 3g to 2g or going out of service.
The 3 phone reminded me of my old motorola 8000 in size...

I like the fact that you get 750 minutes cross-network anytime calls for £35 a month.

PLUS - I have my 3 SIM card working perfectly well in my O2 XDA ....

Question

Can you not just put the sim card in a 2G phone like an orange 6210 and use it for the cheap minutes?

I believe(from a link from Scoobynet) that 3 are fed up with customers using 2g phones on their network and are in the process of barring them...

If a '3' SIM is used in a 2G phone it will only use the O2 network and therefore '3' will incur the addidtional cost of roaming onto O2.

If 3 pulled their fingers out and prevented calls from dropping when the phone tries to switch from 2G to 3G and vice versa, then the customers wouldn't be trying to use the SIMS in 2G phones.

I just want to be able to use the bloody phone for more than 5 mins without dropping the call.

Some people would like to use the phone (750 minutes x network) for not a lot of money, compared to other operators.

I appreciate that some might say you get what you pay for, but not everyone is blessed with loads of disposable income.

Its new, I suppose. Let's hope the cliche holds and "Things can only get better"

Suppose we can't complain too much if they do. I've had my money's worth already from my free phone, text messages, and monthly download allowance.... oh and the calls (that didn't get dropped )

is there any more info available on using the "3" sim in another phone - i.e, what nikia's will take the SIM card , and if so what needs to be done to them. My mate has the NEC 3 phone, bag o' ****e really, no battery and keeps dropping calls.

You cannot deny its a good deal though, he has had BT disconnected on the strenghth of it, it seems its just the phone that lets it down.

It's probably a good idea to take a look at the people posting on 3G.co.uk and aussie3G.com for opinions as they are actual users IMHO, of course.
You'll see both views there and can ask questions of actual users.
