Picking up a new car tomorrow and want to assign my personal registration on to it, which is currently on a retention certificate. My question is, can i do this straight away if i have the signed v5 document or do i have to wait until i get the v5 back in my name??

Any help wuld be appreciated.

Straight away - take it to your local dvla office and they'll give you the necessary.
