Just been cleaning out my fish tank along with a water change.
Sucked out the right amount of water as per usual but forgot to move the thermostat back down into the water, i left it just out of the water It over heated and promotly exploded DOOHH!!!!!
Right, now since its now 9pm I have no chance of getting a replacement..... what are the chances of my boys surviving the night??

put your heating on, put them in a temporary small container and put them above a radiator.
alternatively set your alarm clock every hour, get up, net the fish one by one and microwave each of them for a few seconds, this should give them a nice warm feeling from inside

fill a bottle or something that won't melt with warm water and leave it in there over night, but if your afraid of doing that then you'll have to keep on changing the water every so often or................................................ ..........you could always start heating up the oven, then you can grill them one by one as they die

Put the plug in the bath and get the taps/shower running at about 68-72 degrees F. when you are up to temp and the bath is nearly full, slow the taps a bit so you dont overfill - hey presto!!!! a filtered and well oxygenated fish tank.
One thing - make sure tha bathroom window is open so the chlorine doesent kill the fish.

Thanks for all the advice guys (and pi55taking )
They made it through the night
At about midnight, I took out approx a 10th of the water and replaced it with boiling water from the kettle, this raised the temperature of the whole tank, I then left the lighting on and covered the tank with several bath towles to keep the heat in.
Upon removal of the towles this morning, the top of the tank was lovley and warm and the water temp was just about right
So, no fish supper today
Cheers again
