Angry

just pulled out my mates house onto the main road going home. theres a copper in a lay bye opposite, as i go past i saw him whip on his seat belt ant turn out. i thought "here we go". so i carry on at 30 no cars infront of me, look in my mirror to see him pull out and overtake a car!! comes up behind me and flash flash he pulls me over. usual thing, checks the car over, tax vin no, reg etc. everythings fine, and i thought bo!!ocks to it so i said

"how come you have just pulled me over? i wasn't speeding, had my seatbelt on and did nothing wrong. if i was a skally in an impreza and flew out the junction and sped up the road then pull me over, but i pulled out normally drove bang on 30 as normal around here, and you've just overtaken a car for the sake of pulling me over!!"

he did'nt say anything, just got back in his range rover and drove off!! couldnt believe it. where i live is a village and most the coppers know me and that i drive a scoob so they dont bother me but this guy did that for no reason!!!

Question

How about if you had gone down the pub with your mate, and someone else drove out onto the main road in your car, and driven at a steady 30mph past a police car, and he'd not blinked?

Be thankful that the police were taking an interest in your car and making sure that the owner was driving it. It has cost you nothing, except maybe 5 mins at the side of the road.

i see your point dave, if someone was in my car i'd want them to be pulled over. it was the way he went about it that annoyed me, not the fact i'd been pulled over. im used to it in stockport and manchester (21 years old).

It can be intimidating to be pulled over (even when innocent), and I guess if the officer doesn't come over as friendly then I can understand a bit of bitterness.

Hopefully you're over it now

I am sure that if your precious pride and joy had been stolen, then this thread would be praising the police for their thoroughness.

A little thought goes a long way.

Yep, you`d phone them to tell them it had been knicked, and they`d give you a crime number over the phone for your insurance people. Then they`d knick you for speeding in your courtesy car.

I was pulled over in Manchester a year back because the car is registered in Berkshire and I was in Manc. Normally, as long as YOU pass the attitude test, the police will be fine with you - afterall, if you are doing nothing wrong you are not in trouble!

I have been pulled over 5 times, and as long as you are not obnoxious you will get a civil response.

Jon.

same here, got pulled over in brum, when car registered in hants.
Once i had given my registered address to the coppper all was fine and they were very civil with me. explaining that these cars get nicked a lot anf they are on the look out for them.
The most polite two coppers i have ever sopken to.

i have been pulled 16 times in brum twice while at traffic lights for moving traffic offences the second time was by a copper driving towards me!!
i don't drive like a loon the traffic in brum is just to bad and i am 28 and wear a suit for work.
As for " if your car had been nicked "i don't know an insurance company that will insure a scooby with out some sort of tracker so if thats not going off why pull a scooby over ?if you get jacked you call tracker they turn it on and you pray the fuzz stop the scum in ya car.
my dad was a copper and he told me about car snooker
goes like this , you stop a red car 1 point then a colour (car) 2-7 points , then a red car and so on you get the idea.

as a foot note most of the poilce round walsall are ok and i can chat to them (but never trust them)get told about speed traps ect .

Pretty much stuffed now spanner as 99% of cars are silver now .

In 5 years worth of scoob ownership and 17 years of driving (of which last 10 have been performance/sporty cars) I have been pulled twice both in an old escort before my sport car days. Been followed a lot in the scoobs but I guess its been PNC-ed and found to be okay but never stopped. Not even stopped for one of those side of the road checks/surveys always seem to get waved through.

As yet I haven`t been pulled, and I hope I don`t, cos I`d fail the attitude test every time.

Can`t stand to be bothered with them, or talking to them.

hey gav, sorry to hear you got pulled, but I can't believe you were doing "30", I've seen you drive remember, and have the video evidence, hehe.
I would rather a copper pull ME in the car, than ignore some toe rag who had managed to nick it though,
see you soon,
chris.

I was pulled twice in my Scooby, the only times I've been pulled at all.

Both times I passed the attitude test and got sent off with a finger wagging. Mainly 'cos I knew exactly why they pulled me over, I knew it was very marginal (first time 70 in a 60 @1AM clean breathalyser prob helped, 2nd time beat Jag from lights in a 30, ended up at just over 35/in front of Jag). Thanked the officers for their time and so on. Much better outcome than cheeking them up and getting nicked.

The only reason they do it is cus they hope it's stolen and want a chase. The only difference between us and them is that they have a licence to speed oh and earn less money
