His much acclaimed latest LP 'The Rising' has won 2 Grammy's I believe. And from what I've heard of it, it sounds really good.

He's a big talent, and has always wrote very good songs. Although the way he sings into the mic, I'm surprised he hasn't pulled any neck muscles!

Nearly.. Subaru mentioned in lyrics to "Pink Cadillac" (as murdered by Natalie Cole!). Also seem to remeber Subaru is mentioned in Blondie's "Rapture" proto-rapping bit!

Bruce is one of my heroes. Heartily recommend any of his albums.

"mass american middle class rock market"

He appeals to a wider audience than that - on both sides of the Pond.

Good on you Mike!

Been a fan since I saw him at St James Park, Newcastle in 84 or 85. Seen him 3 times too, funnily enough.

Yep, big fan here too. I like a wide range of his stuff, from the bluesy numbers to rock.

Know what you mean Alcazar. Depends on the mood I'm in. Nebraska is one of my fave albums but the more upbeat stuff on Darkness / The River / Born To Run etc is great too. The quality of his unreleased stuff on bootlegs is better than 99% of other artists actual releases. Would recommend the Tracks boxset to anyone into Bruce who doesn't already have it.

Cool

I was at St James too

The first four albums are some of my all time favourites. The Rising is superb as well. I don't think there are any albums that I dislike but some (Human Touch/Lucky Town for example) are a bit weaker. I'd second the comments about "Tracks" and I'm really enjoying listening to the Live in NY CDs in the car after a bit of a break.

So, who are the real Bruce anoraks here? Anyone got Southside Johnny albums? Or how about Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers?

"real Bruce anoraks here"

I guess that would include me.

Got all the SJAJ albums (most on vinyl, and including imports. Seen them 3 times - Knebworth in 1979 backing Led Zeppelin, Strathclyde University also in '79 (met the Band afterwards!), and Newcastle Opera House last year.

Got all Clarence's solo stuff too, all Miami Steve's, and Patti Scialfa's solo album from 1993.

Yep, would class myself as a Bruce anorak too.

Got a few Southside albums, plus a couple of Little Steven ones too. Think I've got pretty much everything Bruce has ever released on cd or vinyl.. Soundtracks, Woody Guthrie/Roy Orbison tribute albums etc.

Also got a few Bob Seger albums..Very Bruce-ish in style.

In a bizarre twist my parents now actually live in NJ and we've made the pilgrimage to Asbury Park. Plan to go to the Stone Pony this year too and visit one or two places featured in The Sopranos (TOP programme!).

Saw Nils at Hammersmith Odeon in '78 or '79 I think. Also Coatham Bowl Redcar in '92 and '93. He does an excellent accoustic set.
