What's wrong? If it doesn't light up do you have a pilot light on?
A common prob is when the thermocouple gets burned through and that knacks the system cos the pilot light goes out.
They are a doddle to change and cost about £15 to £20 IIRC.
Else what? My mate is a CH engineer but is local to Lancashire.

Problem is....
Boiler fires up no probs
Pilot light on
Heat coming out of the radiators is scolding - even with boiler at min & thermostat on wall in house on min too.
There is no "middle ground" ie cant control the temp of the rads.

Is the pump working ?
If you have shut down for a period they tend to stick.
You may be able to take out central screw of pump and rotate impellor.
Replace central screw and see if pump works then.

OK, what about this one then...
Lots of hot water (so boiler is working), but the radiators are cold.
Ideas?
TIA,
KF.
EDIT: Quick investigation found the thermostat to be at fault. Now, where is my mallet?

It is down to the thermostat on the front of the boiler. The room-stats don't control water temp. The thermostat on the front of the boiler usually has numbers or temps on it. Is this turned up high? If so turn it back. If it is turned down and the rads are still scalding, it is faulty. Ten minutes to replace. Any plumbers merchant will sell you one for a few quid
