CS - More Advice Needed!
I just tend to look away whenever a gren is thrown. At least you get some notice if your team throw's one (the bloke shouts something).
If you see a gren coming flying in, take cover BEHIND the grenade (i.e. dont look at it when it exlodes)

How do you protect your eys & vision against flash bombs?
Everytime I'm anywhere near one of them, whether as friend or foe, by the time I can see I'm dead
I'm sure I've got more questions

Puff
There's not that much you can do. What I tend to do is either look away if I'm not near the blast or If I'm completely blinded I try and move myself out of the area by trying to remember my surroundings....sometimes the latter has worked well for me.

krankyd, you any good at CS??, thought of joining the STi Clan days??

So if I lob a flash-bang & look away as I do it, when I turn around again, I can run out behind & shoot the poor saps who are temporarily blinded at my leisure????
I get flash-banged & I'm into reverse at a rate of knots firing in front of me - I still die

ptmw,
diving is an advanced feature that is done by "getting shot". to get shot stand out in the open and spin around on the spot slowly. sure enough the random "getting shot" event will occur and your character will dive to the floor
sorry when i said dive for cover i really meant "leg it"

OK - so how do you earn credits?
What normally happens is that I buy all the stuff I want - Big Gun, Extra Ammo, Body Armour, Night Vision Goggles & if I'm feeling lucky, a grenade.
I then die...
I then haven't got enough credits to get the things I need
Help & advice!

How can you get a f off shooter on the first round with £800 credits.
Regualrly come up against people with silenced rifles AND grenades on that first game of a level
Chrikey, I'm bad enough with a pistol but may get lucky. Against a semi-automatic rifle I am TOAST

there is a bug in the current version of CS where when you start a level new one of the teams just 'wins' a round without actually playing it, hence gettting 4000K or whatever.
Usally on the first round I'd get a dessert eagle with ammo ( it's worth it's wait in gold. Really kills in 2-3 shots) or just keep the standard pistol, get ammo and a kevlar body kit.
If you want to be a real pro, don't use the silenced weapons unless there is a need to shoot someone quietly (doh... like taking out one bloke in a room full of people). They are more effective un-silenced.

The actual workings for the money are buried on the CS site somewhere. Essentially the team that wins gets more. You personally get more for shooting people and resvuing hostages. (Team also gets more for hostges rescued). The Round win amounts aren't fixed. If your team is consisenty crap you get more money up to a certain limit. If you win one round it resets which can be very frustrating if its a flkue wheer one bloke survives. and everbody else is dead and broke again.
Obvioulsy the best way is to survive a round or two
If things get very bad, just buy armour. Then creep around behind the blokes at the front rushing. More often than not you can pick up one of their guns for free ! This does take patience though - which I personally find very hard

The way to get moneys is not to die!
The winning team get a set amount per level, and the loosing team get a set amount. The only differance I think is on the hostage levels?
You loose money if you kill a hostage (whoops. didn't see your head from 1 foot away. Sos I blew you away.. )
but you get money if you touch a hostage (if you are a CT) and more money if you rescue them.

There is a console command which gives you £16k when you type it in. It is cheating, so I am not telling you what it is.
I never cheat and I don't understand what the point of cheating is. Why bother at all?

Ok a little money gathering tip for you guys.
Firstly, the first round is pretty cr@p anyway so why bother joining in ? Well theres one good reason if you've got a fast connection, i beleive it works this way :
If you're first on and nobody else wins within 5 seconds you win that round by default therefore anybody joining your team after gets one rounds worth of money.
A better way to do it however (I think) is to select your team but dont select a model type, sit and wait for the first two rounds to finish, usually within 30 seconds or so. Because you've chosen a team the others joining are limited to joining the other team (depending on the server setting of players per team) so they spend their time trying over and over to join yours, by which time another round has finished and voila, more cash all round (you still accrue mney even though you're effectively dead on the scoreboard). Then run around like Rambo !!
Try it, it's fun joining with a colt or AK plus grenades and full armour when the others have a deagle only cos they lost the first two (previous two) rounds.
Well that was all clear as mud wasnt it, just try it and see

Dont know Tiggs, I'm on ISDN so you should really be faster than me but I'm usually first on if not within a second or two of the first.
Doesnt matter anyway, the principal is the same, chose a team but not a model until the round (or two if you need to pay a visit or something) has finished.
Once you chose a model, with a bit of luck your team has won a round or two and you have pots of dosh, only slightly less if they lost.
Or you can even change teams and join the others with the same money accrued
Try it, honestly it's true
