Can flamer kits get you points?
CC - I'd say that the answer is yes, given that the police could very well argue that your car is in a dangerous condition. Let's face it, shooting flames from the exhaust isn't terribly safe...

Its only a bit of fun! Feel sorry for your mate though. Imagine his face! Thought he was having a bit of fun and entertaining the boys and next thing he knows, 3 points! Ouch

Rik, you're right of course but at least this guy can turn off his £99 flamer kit. It would be worse if the car naturally spat flames out due to de-catting & other mods costing many times more and he got done for it. What would you do then? take off the costly mods?
Hmmm......
I can't actually see where the offence is?
For example, my brother's Saff Cossie runs reasonable bhp, and doesn't have one of our kits on. It runs rich on the over-run, and will flame like a car with a kit installed.
The car is road legal, has an MOT (therefore roadworthy), and would pass a roadside emissions check, as the CO is spot on. Please someone explain where that is illegal?
I think the police are well aware of the fact that certain companies out there are now selling kits that rely on gas to ignite - i.e. direct butane injection into the exhaust with a spark plug!
The original flamer kit we sell is just a bit of fun - gas powered, however, do smack a little of stupidity! I mean, would ou want be to a rear seat passenger in a car, in an accident with a can of butane in the boot?

the copper said the car was in dangerous condition
his point was- what if you drove past a bus stand and set fire to someones clothing!
or if there was petrol spilt on the road!
both very unlikely BUT could happen
still my mate has 3 points and is £60 lighter.
the thing is the police car that saw him was unmarked and even called in a patrol car to pull him for it!

Ye seen the Butane kits Rich is talking about.
Look impressive at shows etc cause you get like a jet noise aswell, but on the street got to be a bit iffy.
Always wondered were I stood with my car spitting flames (no kit)spose I know now, But I know I wouldnt take an on the spot, straight to court and argue the toss!
