dllhost - and modem problem?? Help..

Hi,
Having a problem with W2K (+SP1) on my home computer (2xCPUs and oodles of memory)
Since I got an external modem a couple of weeks ago the link has been fine for a few minutes to half an hour. Then something sends shedloads of data and things just about stop.... I have to reboot.
Loads of things been checked and rechecked. Reloaded OS, got another new modem, had BT check the lines, etc etc etc.
The problem seems to start when a process called 'dllhost.exe' starts up. This is, apparently, "..dllhost is used on all versions of WIndows 2000. dllhost is the host
process for all COM+ applications. IIS 5.0 uses COM+ for managing asp pages, and executing them, so when you call a asp page, dllhost will be used to execute the asp page".
OK. So has anyone any knowledge about why it should start sending shedloads down the serial port (and thus modem)??? (It's just bloody started!!!).
Any clues appreciated. And also, do you actually need it????
