the car battery is steamin smoke or fumes out of the battery vent, smells awful, someone said my car may be over charging??? feked alternator?

why is the battery venting vapours??


car been sat for 2 month, and battery wasnt holdin a charge to well once i put it on the road yesterday.

yea will put a voltmeter on tomoz and see if overchargin, be blomin easier and cheaper to some how reduce the charge from alternator to the batt back to 14.5v if it is overcharging due to transformer faliure.

must be possible using somin costin couple quid from maplin..lol

 

The battery might be fooked or it will be overcharging......usually blows bulbs if its overcharging enough to make the battery start gassing....

 

funnily enough the central locking stopped workin, and a brakelight's out, although not sure if the brakelight was always like that

 

Don't smell it. The fumes can contain sulphuric acid vapour!!
