Solihull Council c0ck-up with speed limit

15 years ago, during various boundary changes, Solihill Council dropped the speed limit on the B4118 between Castle Bromwich and Water Orton from 40mph to 30mph.
Unfortunately they did not have the legal permission to do this - as has just been found out.
Seems like many thousands of drivers will now be contesting old fines and prosecutions
This could be a rather costly mistake!!!!!

Interesting question, because although the road should have had a 40mph limit, this was not signposted. Thus i doubt whether even this limit could be enforced (needs signs on the entry, plus repeaters every so often)!
Maybe drivers will be in the clear up to the national speed limit?
