PS2 - New formula 1 game shoots & scores...

Just had a lap around Monza with the analogue throttle on the right thumb controller and I have to say once you get used to it, I think I now prefer it to pedals.
Amazing the difference it makes when cornering - you can temper the throttle so you don't wheel spin, etc...
If only Montoya hadn't rear ended me.
Looking through race options, you can alter springs, anti-roll, camber, etc, even the race strategy including re-fuelling stops. COOL.

Just got Forumla One - 2001 by Sony for Playstation2
At last, I've got a decent racing sim on the machine:
The reviewers seem to love it too, scoring a 9 out of 10. Hell, its even got a pressure sensitive clutch and you can stall the engine!
Graphics are smooth & quite detailed too.
It actually feels better than Geoff Crammond's F1GP3 on the PC, but not as smooth as Gran Prix Legends.

Yes BlowDog, its in the shops.
I found the throttle a bit sensitive as its digital eg. on or off, but reading the instructions I've just noticed you can use the right thumb controller (analogue) to ease you off the line with no wheel spin - same applies to braking too, nice and easy into hairpin at hockenheim.
It supports a wheel too.

Dunno, hold on - I'll check the setup options...
...right it only supports something called 'speedster2' which may or may not be the wheel that you can buy for GT3.
Both games are sold by Sony (opposed to EA, Ubisoft, Konami) so you'd like to think the wheels will be compatible.
Incidentally Forumla 1 2001 is *allegedly* by the team that wrote Wipeout according to one reviewer. Not a bad thing in my book.

GregH,
Apparently the GT3 wheel you buy in Japan IS a repackaged 'Logitech FF wheel' USB, which is used on the PC.
Anyone with this wheel *should* be able to use it on GT3 in this country. Can't guarantee it though (yet)
My US copy of GT3 is coming in July so I'll try my MadCatz USB wheel with it.
