Just found out that LOTR trailer will be
running with Pearl Harbor next week when it comes out. Apparently the trailer is different to the one originally going to be released and a lot better with more shots.
be good...

I've got a special leather bound limited edition of LOTR.
Published by Harper Collins almost 20yrs ago to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of J.R.R Tolkien on 3rd January 1892.
Its no 82/250 and has 50 colour illustrations by Alan Lee and has been signed by him.
I was told i was mad for paying so much for a book - well i didn't cos it was a present
However the bookshop owner also told me she was unhappy that someone had bought and wished she'd kept it for herself.
But i reckon it was a steal and could be worth summat in years to come.....no that i plan to sell it.

Psah !
You think LOTR is difficult ? Try the Silmarillion. Complete nightmare for the first 200 pages .. then you start to understand. Fantastic book ( eventually ) though.
Rumours of second LOTR trailer before Pearl Harbour ( opens thurs/fri this week ) If you have a fast enough connection, it is available from TheOneRing.net on Friday too.

Silmarillion, a complete nightmare does not begin to describe that book, I own and have read hundreds of novels, and that has to have been the most ackward book to get into. I can't not recommend it strongly enough.
LOTR took me a couple of weeks to read, not sure if I should dig it out again before watching the film, or if watching the film by itself would be better

In the process of reading for about the 6th time at the mo. This time Im reading it with the wifey, read out loud taking it in turns type of thing.
How bloody hard are some of them names to actually pronounce!!!!?
Just cant wait for the first film to hit the streets. Crimbo I think isnt it!?
Silmarillion, not good.
Wasnt unfinished tales a trick one as well from memory!?
If you like LOTR, look at Robert Jordans wheel of time series, very good, makes LOTR look like a very short series!!
Other stuff Ive really enjoyed was the Elenium trilogy and the follow up trilogy, but I cant remember the author off hand
Anyone else recommend a series/trilogy etc?

The Elenium trilogy was by David Eddings I think, his first series: Belgariad was really good, they were the first Fantasy books I read
I just finished book nine of the wheel of time series, now waiting for book 10, he could do with learning to write quicker
I have enjoyed pretty much all of Raymond E Fiests (sp?) books, David Gemmills are normally quiet good as well.

stevem2k: I never said it was difficult, just never got round to reading it, and considering that when it was given to me, I was only 10 I don't think it was a crime to have a youth and find interesting things to do besides read a monster sized book!
In all truth it is a wonderful book, the real reason it has stayed away for so long is that it was a gift from my father who died when I was 17...
I was merely making a joke, but nevermind, you can buy the book of humour, next to the "life" shelf in the Body shop...
p.s. I'm just being sarcastic and intend to cause no offence...

Chill Ange,
t'was never meant to cause offence in any way. I am sorry you took my lighthearted comment the wrong way.
As for the ' get a life ' comment, well, that is a bit harsh, but I'm sure I'll get over it .... one of these years :-)
