just made a bid on a 199T 1,8 petrol landrover freelander, been told gearbox probs, the toffy nosed bloke on other end of the dog and bone said it makes a terrible noise and mumbled its the IRD unit, done some research on what that is.

he said it drives but a horrendous noise, anyone know any prices supplied and or fitted in the south?

my impression is the unit is kinda like the old transfer box's to get the drive to the rear, is there anything else that it could be? i havent asked him were he got his info on whats wrong with it, just waitin for the phone call accepting my bid.

Why would you even want a freeloader?

I know they are sheds usually driven by women on the school run that get in my way and have to be overtaken

Believe it or not, according to a recent report, the Freeloader retains up to 80% of it's original value after 3 years

Have a look here:

Mrs Zax wants a Freelander. I'm not convinced of their reliability/durability myself. Currently searching the internet to get the lowdown...

Devil's I will NOT believe that, sorry mate but that is total bollox. This is not a personal dig at you though, just whoever thought that little bit of fiction up.

Freelander's will retain a Maximum 55% after 3years/30k miles and most versions in the range will lose more than that. If your looking for the best in class for retained value you have to go for the Honda CR-V.
