Question

I have the same problem. My preferred solution but be a metal gridwork - like chickenwire but much much more substantial.

I want to get hold of a some galavanised metal grids but I can't find a supplier. Failing that some wrought iron gridwork which I'd hammerite.

Any ideas?

Gregh, I don't remember the best solution, but if you ask this question on rec.ponds (newsgroups) you might get some serious answers. Or try doing an advanced search on

We had a problem at work with prats trying to knacker our air-con compressor unit which sits on our back yard. Amusing stunts such as nicking the dial switch off the isolator switch.

A quick scout through Yellow Pages found a metalworking company who put us a galvanised metal cage. Very strong stuff, much tougher then mesh / chicken wire.

Chris.

I agree with Alistair.

Not worth trying to make it child proof IMHO, because there only needs to be something small that you may have forgot to do and then it's too late.

Fill it in - it's not worth the risk.

Get a new pond when your child gets older.

Cheers,
Tom
