Thumbs up

Just a quick thumbs up for GISAJOB.co.uk

Literally started getting replies from all sorts of IT agencies within 24hours, unlike jobserve (still nothing).

Excellent site, obviously well run, top marks!

Thanks, Alex

Just did a search for Manchester, and it brought up 1 job !

Not too good for northerners.

Cool

DrEvil

Never realised you were in the Surrey area until now. I have been working in Woking for the last 2 months and could have had a look at the infamous motor Back home in sunny Lancs now though

DreamWeaver - doh! shame you didnt notice before now mate.

Gazza - try putting your CV online at this site and just wait & see, if the response I got is anything to go by, you'll have more than enough agencies contacting you

I believe that agencies are going through a bit of a hard time at the moment. Make sure that they aren't just fishing for sales leads, i.e. where have you been put forward to lately?, who was the contact?

Apols if I am teaching you to suck eggs.

Ca - yup you are right, hence I'm not telling anyone anything when they contact me!

Seems there are several openning for the sort of work I do, fortunately.

A friend of mine on the NT side of things is having an extremely hard time finding any work at the mow.

Things should get better end of March/early April when companies have their budgets planned.

Gazzer, the problem with doing a location search is that the agencies (who place the job ads) don't use standard formats.

So for a job in the Manchester, one agency will say Location: North another may say Location: Altrincham yet neither match "Manchester".

It's best to do a skill-set search instead.

However, Gis-a-Job is in the process of organising the agencies, to give locations that can be searched on.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

Have to say I don't currently have my CV out with any on any sites, BUT lots of agencies are calling at the mo, without having real jobs, just bullsh!tting about jobs which fit my skills perfectly and are 5 mins from my house! They want all want contacts, all my collegues are getting the same too. Shame I've been doing the same job 15 months + now and fancy a change, though have yet to do anything about it (still have long contract)!

According to my agent it is very quiet, especially M4 corridor, and serious NT skills are least in demand. Lots of technical (?) helpdesk type jobs though. Another thing my agent said is they are doing practically no advertising as all the jobs are being filled without looking for people who aren't already registered with them.
