Is NTL cable modem worth having??
#1
Hi Girls??
I can get it for £19.99 if I buy my own cable modem.
or £24.99 to hire a cable modem from them
the second option sounds best as the modem is £150
downloads up to 512Kbps ??
Worth it ??
will it be much better than NTLworld ??

Tal Ive been on ntlworld since it started down here. The service is usually ok but it can get painfully slow at times. Considering its free, calls and all, i can put up with that . My son however couldn't stand the waiting so he got the cable modem from them and it really is impressively quick. He reckons it's worth every penny, especially as he hasn't been charged for it yet and he,s had it for about eight months.Hope this helps, cheers, Dave.

I use one at home.
I would say, on the whole it's worth the money. Sometimes their transparent cache's get REALLY slow(below 56K dial up levels) which makes web browsing a real pain. When this happens(it's got better, but I get it 2-3 times a month) all you do is find another cache(proxy) to use, change some settings in the browser and away you go. There are a list of alternative proxies at
