I agree with them, restrict the amount of gaming that kids are allowed to do, that way there would be more decent games about.
I mean at least 50% of the games on the consoles are just pants (when your an adult)!

Make the kids use the simple space invaders, and "bat n ball" type games that I used to have to play!

Space Invaders! Violence and Xenophobia!

They didn't say which games they are playing. The games industry has ratings as does the movie industry. If these people are letting them play wu-tang taste the pain as an expirment there's something fundamentaly wrong.
If the kids are becoming violent playing crash bandicoot or spyro the dragon then it can't really be the content, can it?

From the article:

Dr Scott pointed to cartoons like Tom and Jerry, and said children had always been exposed to violence.

"That was a speaking cat and a speaking mouse. It was fantasy, and that's much harder to incorporate into our daily lives.

"And you could explain it - it's a cartoon, it's not real.

"But when you see 'a real person', or Playstation character doing aggressive things, that's more realistic."

So why is Tom and Jerry fantasy that is hard to incorporate into real life, while Sonic the Hedgehog, StreetFighter 2, etc. is not !!!!

Surely if these 8-9 year olds are playing games and watching TV that is suitable for 8-9 year olds, then they are not watching blood, gore, sociopaths, etc.

Great - another survey that just blames TV and video games for all of the violence in society. How about the parents that raise these kids, and their peers at school. Surely they can't possibly have anything to do with the behaviour of their kids? What a bunch of ****.

It is quite impressive, I have played computer games since before I was at school, and yet I have not gone around attacking people at random. To say nothing of the amount of time spent watching TV.
I must be in serious risk of turning into a lunatic of sorts - normal day in holidays:
9am get up - switch on tv, computer and games consoles.
day - play computer games while watching Tv
2:30am go to bed.
Break at some appropriate point to go to Blockbusters to hire out different games.

Don't you just love reports like this, I wonder how much money was spent on it as well, probably more than just a few pounds I expect.

I have to admit I have a criminal record as long as your arm.

Actual Bodily Harm via a chainsaw
Grand auto theft
Excessive force (when I was in the gpolice)
Causing death by chaingun

i blame the games, lets face it its too contraversial finding the real reason.

Now I understand.
By replacing the majority of our police officers with Gatso's and CCTV and the three officers that are left can be strategically positioned inside Electronics Boutique or Gamestation [or whichever place you buy your games.
Anyone buying a game [or Loony Tunes Classic video] can immediately be arrested and placed in psychiatric care.
Watch the crime stats fall ...

So we are all a bunch of degenerates. Driving a car... not very green
Eating burgers... unkind to cows
Playing games... encourages violence
drinking beer... encourages violence
surfing the net... generally anti-social
having fun... frowned upon by goverment and society
listening to goverment and society... really encourages violence!!!!

p.s. I think Dr. Scott is absolutely correct. I've never fancied a computer generated character until I saw Elise from SSX....

The first thing I would point out about Tom and Jerry is not "that was a speaking cat and speaking mouse". Spike the dog did most of the talking eg. "dat's muh boy" etc.

Has this "prof" ever seen Tom and Jerry? What a git.
