Thanks to Shaun, last night I got my copy of Daytona 2 which is a truely impressive game, better than the original arcade machine

Personally I can see Dreamcast knocking PS2 off the top for a while until Sony bring out some decent games.

I like killing and racing games and doing that online!

maming and racing completely unkown people over the internet is completely addictive and strangely enough most commonly done via a PC.

consoles are too slow basically. by the time the xbox comes out, it'll be slooooowwww compared to PCs!

As for pants games on PCs. All your precious console games are developed on PCs and if a particular game is to come out on PC and console they have to trim it down so it'll run on the hi tec top of the range sloooowwww consoles!

I've had pretty much all the consoles apart from a pc engine, vectrex and a saturn, so I'm basing this on personal experience.

...okay I paid over 2 grand for my PC, but who counting!

Shaun, wake up and smell the roses - there are stunning games out there on the PC and they kick console butt.

If I was allowed only one games machine - no contest - PC!

As someone who owns an N64, Playstation, Dreamcast, PC and used a PS2 for 2 weeks over Christams (and have probably owned pretty much every console since the Megadrive got released in Japan and some from before then) I can say that I have found the games on the Dreamcast and PS2 to be better than almost anything that was released on the Playstation era consoles. It at least appears that developers are looking to do something a bit different, as opposed to the mass of sequels / clones which lacked any sort of new features that have appeared in recent years. I know there have been exceptions like Zelda on the N64, which were worthwhile, but as a whole I found the last generation of consoles a bit of a waste.
Hopefully the better times have just begun, be it X-Box, Cube thing, PS2 or Dreamcast. All I want is good games

Mattski's right - PC's rule big time!

My PC'll run Quake 3 arena in 1024x768 in 32bit colour with everything turned up to the max at consistently over 90fps. It also gets a 3DMark2000 score in that res of just under 7000 -well over 7000 in 16bit colour.

show me any console that'll match that!

Didn't they have to reduce the quality of all the textures in DC Quake 3 to get it to run at a decent fps? tee hee

PCs are as powerful as a ZX81? Hmm, who's afraid of the big bad X-Box then ?

My comments where because of the following reasons:

1. Weird mood
2. Not impressed with either the Dreamcast or PS2 (at the moment) after hearing such good things about them. I bought both a PS2 and Dreamcast within 5 days of each other and thought the dreamcast was crap, so much so I took it back. Gran Turismo 2 on the old playstation is better than the current crop of Dreamcast 'driving' games.

As for 'true gamers' pissing on PCs what crap! Unfortunately console games have a real lack of depth and don't even go down the final fantasy route, that is the exception rather than the rule.

The only game that really grabbed me on a console was GT2 and Driver 2.

I'm sorry, but you can't beat playing your games on a 41inch screen with DolbyDigital sound blasting out around you whilst sitting in your favourite armchair.
How many of your PC's let you do that then?
Oh, and Daytona 2 would be a better game if you could sort the bloody controls out!
I think some of you should look at the quality of the graphics in games like 'Shenmue' before you so readily dis the Dreamcast.

Seriously though, I've got the lot, ninja PC, Dreamcast, PSX2, PSX1, zx81 (with 16k Ram Pack)

*Right now*, the best machine to have is a Dreamcast purely for the huge range of quality games for it. Its been out 2 yrs or something and there's so much to choose from.

Since getting the Dreamcast I can't play any of my Playstation games any more as there too slow and crap looking.

As for PSX2 - its still too early for any decent stuff to be available on it. Gt3 (Mar/Apr) MGS2 (Dec)

As for my PC, its really limited at what it does well - Diablo II, Flight Sims & Quake stuff.

Cause they are so powerful, 'arnt they.......love to see Dead or Alive running on even a 1000mhz PC! Keep dreaming!!! If the technology was THAT good, than why dont arcade manufacturers adopt it?????? Surely it would be cheaper........but then it wouldnt cut the cake, would it!!

If consoles are so crap and slow, ANY conversion that I have seen of a PROPER Arcade game, is ALWAYS pants on the PC compared to the best console conversion!!!!

Dreamcasts are okish as far as they go but simply don't have the quality of software pc's have, face facts. And Age of Empires is for gay baker blokes. btw..what 'ninja' PC do you have?

Think of all of those boring pc games that have been ported to consoles... GTA, Quake, even Command & Conquer got ported to consoles. And who hasn't got a loverly woman then?

Anyway, look at the following facts...
1. Consoles have started to 'behave' like PCs... online gaming, multi-player, expansion ports for keyboards, mice, etc etc... wonder why that is? (cos consoles are GAY! )

2. PCs have the largest range of software and are relatively easy to program on compared to consoles. The PS2 is supposed to be especially difficult.

3. Microsoft (as much as I *HATE* to admit it) are going to wipe the floor with what? a PC in a box. Games will simply need to be recompiled for the X-Box and hey presto, potentially hundreds of quality titles on the launch date. Sony, Sega and Nintendo should be very very worried.

4. Sega and Nintendo are reportedly working together (or will be soon) because :
4a. They are scared of Sony's grasp on the market.
4b. They are all **** scared of the X-Box.

5. Microsoft will not fail (hate hate again) they have tons of money, marketting muscle, brand image...shall I continue?

So, consoles are for gimps who are scared of playing real games. Sean, PC stuff is crap then? O.K. should we forget about stuff like Colin McCrae 2 (PC wipes floor with console), GP3, Rally Championship, Pro Rally 2001, Rainbow 6, Earth 2150, Counterstrike etc etc. PC games have better graphics, better sound and whats more you can do your boring word processing one minute and blast stuff the next

I personally can't afford to keep my PC up to date, so use it for playing strategy, etc games and have games consoles for playing action - sports sims, etc games. Hiring consoles games for £3.50 is a lot cheaper than buying games for the PC.

My Main observation is as follows

All my mates who work in IT and earn shedloads have consoles
All my mates who dont work in IT have PC's

Each format is defined by its best games, it PERSONAL CHOICe (Like a P1 or STI)

But Daytona on the DC is very good!
