ok, with digital camera suitably sorted, what's the best option for printing?

Can I print so that it would be hard to tell a piccie taken and printed from a traditional developed picture?

cheers,

Depends on image quality, camera quality, output size and output hardware!!!!

Greg,
Get yourself some good quality paper as well. If you get the shinny stuff it is possible to print pictures that are of near photo quality.
Printers are very cheap these days, AllanB can sort you out with a good value Epson printer for under a hundred quid.
Only snag is, if you start printing loads of them out you will be getting quickly through the ink cartridges.

Hi Greg. As RichB says the Epson printers are probably the best to go for etiehr the 580 or 680 depending on the quality you want. If you want quality go the 680 route or if you are doing only photos and want the best quality go for one of the Epson photo printers. Bear in mind you'll need the more expensive phot quality coated paper to get the best result. I;'m bck at work tomorrow ( oh deep joy) so I'll email you tomorrow with some more details

cheers for the offer, I've been recommended the Epson 870 as it has 6 colours, my father in law has one and it looks great, how much could you get that for, or are the ones you've recommended better?

At my mums so can't check my work email!

I had a Nikon 990 with a cheap printer and top quality paper. result poor prints. Upgraded printer to H.P photosmart 1000 and now the prints are better than any developed print and up to A4 size. Get the best printer you can afford to achieve the best results.

Greg sorry I didn't post earlier but I deleted my password for Scoobynet from my emails at work so could post. The printer you want if you want to have the 6 cvolout photorealistic output would be the Styuls 870. I'll let you know the cost tomorrow if thats OK.
