After reading Dave T-S post on viruses I noticed the mention of active X controls.
After recieving some mail tonight on outlook I keep getting the message bellow, have I caught something nasty?
An active X control on this page is not safe.Your currant security settings prohibit running unsafe controls on this page.
As a result, this page may not display as intended.
Can anyone tell me what this means?
A worried computer novice
Thanks
Chris

Not an expert in Active X, but it sounds like the security settings in the Internet Options (under the tools menu) that are triggering this. Either adjust to a lower security rating or look at investing in some kind of control program or personal firewall to limit the potential danger.

Hello,
I am not an Expert in Active X (Or a Dentisit!) but........
Chirs L is correct that your browser is set to warn before accepting "potentially" dangerus content, but the warning does not necissarily mean that the content is nasty it just means that the Active X controls on that page could be used for something nasty. There are a many websites that use these controls for legitimate reasons (to provide a rich interactive experiance.
I assume you have an HTML email sent, the question to ask is Who sent it and why? Is it a news letter form a site. IF so do you trust the site? If it cam from an idividual send them a mail and ask them what it is.
Just make sure you have a good virus checker on your PC all the time.
Bye,
