Speeding to be decriminalised
If that is true so what recourse have you got if the charge is untrue or the police have got it wrong?
When you appeal a parking ticket you have to go to the council, does that mean you'd have to do the same? All it would mean is that the council will get clogged up instead.
How can they award points and take away your driving license if no court is involved?
Parking tickets etc are not endorsable offenses are they saying that speeding will be non endorsable(I bet they're not!!)
Another good idea from the people who brought you the millenium dome, No more MIRAS and reduction in what you are entitled for a jury trial for.

Sounds a good move - I was caught speeding (allegedly!) a couple of months ago.
The Court Summons arrived a month ago and I have had to arrange for a Solicitor. The Court appearance has been adjourned since the Solicitors didn't receive the Prosecution Case in time - I'm now waiting for a new date. I will need to take time of work to attend Court.
From advice at the moment it seems like the Sentences dished out by the Courts are a bit random. It would be far simpler to give me the option of X points and Y fine based on a set of rules instead.
Ian.

Hmm.
I don't know anything whatsoever about the law, but I vaguely remember someone telling me that in criminal law an offence has to proven beyond reasonable doubt, whereas in civil law it can rest on the balance of probabilities.
Sounds like bad news to me.
Cheers
Simon
