Cool

Just going home for lunch and some guy in a big white van stopped me and asked me if I wanted to buy some speakers for my stereo. Now I just said "No thanks" as I knew what was coming next but I was just wondering how many other people had had someone stop them in the street and ask them??

If you don't know already the guy will come out with some crap about having some speakers that they have to take back to the factory as they ordered too many, and to save him from taking them back do you want to buy them. These speakers are "worth" £1000 but the guy in the van is willing to sell them for £300. As you may of guessed it is an insult to call them speakers and if you bargain hard enough I have heard you can get them for £50 (And they are not even worth that!!)

So any body else been approached??

Yup

Mind you, filtering through traffic on my bike, stop at some lights next to van & next thing I know the drivers asking me if I wish to buy some speakers!

WTF was I going to put them

(I also know someone who bought some! He seemed happy with em!!!!)

Steve,

Must be the same bloke who asked me as I work in Epsom in Kiln Lane. Very impressed with his sales technique because he also said "alright geezer wanna buy some speakers" to me . Funny you should mention Longmead Industrial estate as I am writing a system for Greenman Toners at the moment so quite often have to go there.

Wink

I've been offered the speakers whilst I was walking through Wimbledon. They were so large they wouldn't have fitted through my front door, let alone in the boot of my car.

Also, in a B&Q car park, I was approached by an Italian bloke and his son, who had allegadly (sp?) been to a fashion show and needed to sell all their "samples", otherwise they would be clobbered for VAT when leaving the country.

If anyone knows of a good laser treatment specialist to get that M.U.G. tatoo off my forehead...?

had a white van man in Oxford stop dead on a roundabout and ask me (almost drove into him)...

another geezer hangs around the services on the M6 in a silver carlton selling watches as advertised in some 'special' magazine that he carries with him...

didn't what hifi do a test on these speakers and they're worth about 40 quid or something?
