Depends on the quality of hooker he is paying for.

 

Most mortgage companies are contract-friendly now, mainly 'cos they realise the potential business on tap.

In particular I'd look at Bank of Scotland, Abbey National and Virgin One, if you're having trouble finding lenders who'll play ball.

 

Halifax wouldn't touch me (and didn't have a clue about contractors). Nationwide are very good and have my custom

Go to an independant advisor - they can check all available mortgages. You don't have to pay them - the lender gives them a finders fee. Most lenders give approx the same rates, so you don't need to worry about the advisor having an eye on the best comission levels
