Problem: A Neff 5 burner stainless hob unit. The burners are made of cast, then turned alloy, capped with enamel tops. I can't keep the alloy clean! I've had a go at it with Jif (Cif), Brillo, and any number of Brand name cleaners.
Brillo/ Jif on wire wool works best, but what a job to get 'em clean!!
Anyone know of any cleaners that'll make it easy?
I've also tried alloy wheel cleaner--it sent the alloy black!!

Please, guys, this is a serious thread, so no "it's a woman's job" replies. Please??

I would get em cleaned then anodized, but I don't have a problem with the ones on my hob.

I set up my hob for LPG, and part of the job is setting some air gaps to get the AFR correct, but no lambda sensor involved. Anyway I figure you can lean the mixture a little if they are always getting black with soot.

It's not soot, they suffer from splash from grease and other food during cooking, which then "cooks" into place. It's a pain to get off.

Thumbs up

Baby wipes are good for getting grease off...but only if it's of the light sort.

This baby oil business? Are we not talking putting it on the stainless bit? Surely, if you put it on the alloy bits, it burns on and causes more mess?

Cool

Do they come off? If so, I find soaking mine in a bowl of Mr Muscle oven cleaner diluted with HOT water works.
