Listening to the track now! Very nice, like the reversed handclaps.

Simon Parkes (Frozen Records and Tony De Vit’s ex-partner) has produced a hard-trance remix of "Emotion" for Tidy Trax
Oooh! I do like Tidy Trax:

Photo's a few months old but I have every single release ever.

Or even artistic outlets

Have to say i love the Emotion choon - very nice. One question, what sort of equipment do you use to generate the trance synth sound? WHich keyboards/Synthesisers do you guys use?

I would really like to have a go at it.

Ady - for sure, get the pics up. I would include mine, but the records are all packed away in bags above me

DW - the kit list is as follows (deep breath!!)

Apple G3/300 running Logic V5 and LOADSA plugins/extra audio toys

Korg Wavestation A/D - ambient pads etc
Korg X5dr - little workhorse
Alesis Quadraverb+ FX unit
Tascam MM1 Midi-controllable Mixer

Glenn & Gareth also have in my studio

Cool

Dan,

I bet your neighbours love you

Wot no Roland gear?!

I use an MC-303 and a Alpha Juno 2 (and SW1000XG for pads an' stuff). Got a Bass Station Rack (serial no: 000303) but I don't use it anymore.

And lots of audio recording of the above using the brilliant Cubase SX. All in all, a very compact but pokey system

I used to have tons of hardware but you don't need it so much in these days of Virtual Studio Technology.

Uncle Buck - nah, only the XP30...

Used to have an SH101, Jupiter8, TB303, MKS50, MKS70 with programmer... took up too much space....

Sound/volume-wise, the neighbours are cool coz it's pretty sound proofed (as a Mixing engineer by trade, I learnt quickly that the key to a good mix is low volume!!!)

I've got VST5.1 (endorsed by Steinberg ) but couldn't get on with it - plus the fact that whilst you're looking at all that eye candy, the computer should be dedicating it's processing to audio/midi timing, NOT graphics.... but that's just me.

I get on really well with Logic, and V5 is the muttz nutz!!!

I really like the bass-station. Would you be interested in flogging it? What sorta music do you write?

Dan

Dan.

The old Roland kit is, of course, what all the origional trncey house was done with because it was cheap!! Now it's all collector's item stuff, and most of it is seriously clapped out. I've had my Juno2 for years, it's like a strat because it instantly delivers 'that' sound.

I was gettin' fed up with VSTis missing the mark soundwise, so I bought the MC-303 a month or two ago for just 125 quid and was amazed by it's authentic range of synth and drum sounds and the authentic 'feel' it has too. Well worth the cash

I used to work in studios too (in Bristol) but moved on to 3D animation a few years back (more money) but the technology has now come of age so I still enjoy a dabble when I get the time

Used to use Logic and Macs and I'm well aware of the debates - Mac vs PC, Logic vs Cubase bla.. bla...

PCs are now *very* powerful for the money and Cubase SX is totally redesigned software and has nowt to do with the old VST. Don't think it's available for Mac yet but workflow wise it is a new world, honest - there sure ain't no timing problems either!

Bass Station is up for sale on the SOS website so yea I do want to sell it. Send me a mail.

Buck.

I think it is good enough to release although in a shortened version with everything that is in this version just less of them.

Although it does sound fairly familier some of it..

Also done a 4min version, as JGM sez, with the everything in, just shorter.....

Just gotta try and get it released!!!!! Anybody out there who

(a) has some money burning a hole in their pocket
(b) knows somebody who has!!!
(c) can think of some more record labels - I've done a load, but want to cover as many as possible!!!

Any ideas??

I've got an MC-303, not used it in years though!

Bit of a pain how you can only control the filters via midi through NRPN!

Also got a Korg Prophecy and the usual software, Rebirth, Reason, Fruity Loops (suprisingly good!) and Logic Audio Platinum (all on PC).

I've not produced anything in years though, I think 1996 was the last time. I was unemployed with no debts so had masses of time to spare.

Fantasty kit list would include the usual Roland x0x boxes, a JP-8000/8080, Jupiter 8, Juno 106 and an Alpha Juno 2 - hoovers!!

Adrian, know what you mean a bout the sys-ex on the MC-303, but there's always the ***** on the front panel I just love the way it combine reasonably new technology with a retro sound, look and feel.

Juno 2 is a classic bit of kit, not least for *that* Hoover sound. It also has the chord hold fuction that gives the classic old skool housey stab sounds

I had a loan of a JP8000 and MC-505 last year.

Managed to knock out a replica Venga Boys tune in about 5minutes flat.

Not got the patience to concentrate on the same track for days to get it right....kept binning tunes through frustration

Gotta say, I love the 303 sounds though. Classic!

Can't use the ***** on the MC-303 in sound module mode, and in normal mode it only works on 1 midi channel. Great!

The ***** on the Prophecy however are ace and that ribbon controller (pressure sensitive) is most handy.

Not many synths will do "Smack My (female) Up" as convincingly as they do "Scotland The Brave"!

Yes, very true

That's why I record each part separately into Cubase as audio and do the **** twiddling in realtime. Not ideal, but that's how it was done 'back in the day'

I like the Step Time recording in the 303 It's great for those quirky, one off acid basslines
