Question

On Monday I'm off to Italy on business for a week, the office is about 2 hours drive west from Roma airport. I've got a BEL Euro 550, can I use it legally in Italy?

2 hrs west from Roma!

You'll need plenty of air in your tyres or better still, Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang side skirts as 2hrs west of Rome is the Island of Corsica unless I am mistaken!

PS. Don't know about the legality issue but the average speed on Italian autostradi is over 100mph in my experience when the traffic is free flowing. Be prepared to move over for Audi RS6's going considerably faster than thou!

Granted - driving there every few weeks or so (north italy) the "speed limit" is 120 - but invariably we settle to a nice easy pace of 180. some parts of the motorway are very bumpy and tight, also be aware of trucks and busses overtaking slower traffic - they just pull out. We came up on a police car 2 weekends ago, slowed down so not to attract too much attention, then he just left us... never caught him. If you are heading towards austria - be aware there are controls - but this is the only place I have found them. Italians drive very fast - more than even germans do...

Keep an eye out for the RS4´s and now the RS6´s too ;-)

Viel Spaß. Neal

Yes, because they can drive. They always are on a mission: They are Italian!

Talking

I used to live in an Italian ski resort a few years ago and MY GOD they do drive fast, even on the seriously twisty road up to the resort, frightening!
A few of the rich busines owners used to occasionally have a race from bottom of the valley to the top in their Integrales! Superb!

Wink

And don't suddenly stop at a red light, the three drivers behind you will be expecting you to run it!
