But as the Electoral Commission admit in the last paragraph - no one expected that these elections were going to take place, the short notice didn't give enough time to sort out the paperwork.

Someone predicted a reverse of the Referendum result : i.e. 52% for remain and 48% leave -- looks like the prediction might be right..

All the remain votes. concentration around/in London. Right across the rest of England Wales, its Brexit Party. They will do extremely well come general election.

Not true. Cities of Bristol and Brighton both had a Green majority, Anglesey, Gwynedd and Ceredigion had Plaid majority, many other cities/urban areas had Lib Dem majorities., and what about the whole of Scotland?
Brexit party polled 31.6%, UKIP 3.4%. So 35% leave. Remain parties polled 39.4%. The percentage of remain/leave votes within the Conservative and Labour results are unknown.

With Fptp and Brexit Party polling extremely well in all but a few regions bodes well for a big GE seat capture. The remain swung to Liberals . The labour party have been thrashed and the conservative party absolutely decimated. So leave voters from Labour and Tories backed Brexit Party

Turnout was still abysmal, so you can't really draw any conclusions from the result. You can of course be sure that all passionate leavers and remainers probably voted, so its reassuring to see that the passionate remainers now seemingly outnumber the passionate leavers, the question is where the rest of the population who couldn't be bothered to vote sit?

Looking at the larger results across Europe the results are very interesting as people in most countries have substantially rejected the far right whilst also shunning the political elite, with the Liberals and Greens being the big winners. The results in France and Italy are a little disappointing, but the the right wing parties there have been forced to take a pro-European stance since Brexit. Its also been the largest ever turn-out for the European elections which is very positive overall. It seems the major legacy of Brexit may indeed be EU reform and greater support of the EU from the member population.

The far right candidate Yaxley-Lennon (Tommy Robinson) was met with laughter as he failed to win a seat, as well as Carl Benjamin (Sargon of Akkad) .

I was watching last night as they announced the results for Manchester where Yaxley-Lennon was a candidate. There was laughter in the room as they announced his pitiful result!

And they'll receive their salary of €6834 per month after deductions, plus expenses. For doing f-all. Gravy train anyone? What a bunch of dishonest charlatans. They repeatedly state that the EU is undemocratic, and then take full advantage of the fact that it isn't. And people fall for it.
