**** stra just failed its MoT on front tyres.
I'd looked before and about 2mm above the wear bars, as far as I could see/feel.
But the tester showed me BOTH fronts worn to the belting in a patch about 150-200 mm long, but nowhere else, inner edges.
What can have caused that ?
The rest is even wear.
Have I been scammed?
Tyres are Dunlop Maxx Sports , 225 40 18, last set showed no such wear.
LOL at the last one in a diesel ****-stra. BJ's are fine according to the MoT, might be suspension settings, but in one small patch???? About 15% of the wheel circumference?
If wear is on inner edges only, it could be down to driving dead center over a lot of speedhumps. To avoid the same thing happening on the next set of tyres you would want to put one wheel over the middle of the humps instead, and the other on the un-humped part of the road when you go over them.

Sounds like they had a vulcanized repair which has worn quicker than the surrounding tyre - Usual. or the tyres have some inherent fault if purchased new.
Yep, Sportmaxx , taken off a S-class LWB. 'MO' spec, which is Merc OEM.
Looks like a structural/belt failure...you can see the cord in between the tread!
(Also note the loss of all the sipes and most of the lateral grooves, despite there being 4mm tread on central three quarters...an annoying trend on modern tyres that means the wet grip is vastly inferior to a new tyre when only 50% worn )
Yep, not cheapies. In addition 'MO' spec is Mercedes specific so usually carries an extra premium.
Looks to me like the nylon cord is cutting its way through the rubber and out of the tyre. No signs of prior repair, fitted about 10k ago last summer, so not an old tyre.
I'm going to blame pot hole or foreign object damage (there is the odd deep cut in the tread), or manufacture defect.
