Default Driver caught speeding at 154mph in Seat Leon Cupra!

Hi,
Few things about this case:-
1) He must be chuffed that his Seat Leon was that fast!
2) Sentence seems very lenient for the speed involved.

Cheers

Good chance it was lenient because of the way it was handled in court.
If the police don't attend, the sentence is often low. Also, most people don't know, but it is possible to plea bargain with the CPS to give a guilty plea to a lower speed to help reduce court time.
Don't know if either happened in this case, but could be....

Impressive speed from the Leon!

Surprised how short the ban is, I would have thought 12 months at least.

Just the way the law works, apparently. Unless it can be proven he was also doing something else while driving at that speed that would make him liable for some other offence (driving without due care, for example), 56 days is the most they can give him. If he'd got done 4 or 5 times for doing 46mph in a 40 though, they could have his license for 6 months. All perfectly logical, innit

I do like my Mk1 LCR, I prefer the looks over the Mk2 shape.

He'd have automatically been reported for dangerous driving too at any speed that could end up in a ban, i.e. 100+ in a 70mph zone will both be referred to court for both at a very minimum. Seems the CPS dropped dangerous driving for some reason. He's probably argued that he needs his license because of his disabled Mum. They would have reduced it this way I suspect.

Well over 10 years ago now I was following traffic on our local bypass in an evening when it was quiet and got caught doing nearly exactly 50mph less than him at 106mph. Didn't realise I'd even got to that speed as I was following traffic, but I was the only one to not notice the Police car join, so I got caught. Hands up, my fault. I pleaded guilty in court and had so many people in my company relying on my driving to do my job and support them financially I thought it would help. I had letters written by people in responsible positions vouching for my integrity and even paid a solicitor to represent me to plead my case. I got the same as this guy above, 56 day ban and few hundred quid fines, plus solicitors costs etc.

2 of my friends were caught doing FAR MORE than me that very month 40+ over the limit which could even be jail time, both got points and no ban. I don't understand how the Magistrates court decided on the penalty for the crime I really don't.

Also, my car insurance actually went down when I re-insured after my ban! Go figure!

Even at that the turbo wont last long.

Great cars but 350bhp would be my limit unless i planned to hybrid it when it went pop

Like saying folk run stock newage 2.0 sti blocks at 500bhp.

It has been done. But not advised

Didn't say it couldn't be done.

Just saying that when above 400 and even more so above 450 on a stock block
you can't complain if things do go wrong

Obviously there are ways of improving the chances of survival

It would have been classed as dangerous driving . Does that carry a max 56day ban ?

What is the max ban for exceeding 11points?

Ive been given 9 points for careless driving after being charged with dangerous and pleading guilty to careless

I could be wrong but i think tthat put me over 12 points and got a 3month ban

Edited to add

This was a long time ago and im not so stupid anymore
