Another jumbo jet gone missing, thought to have crashed into Sea
Just heard on BBC Breakfast. It's an Egypy Air plane with around 55 passengers on board. Looks like Egypt is going down the swanny. I holiday'd there in 2008 and it was fantastic but I'd definitely be cautious about visiting again.
You've got to feel for them though, their whole tourist trade is destroyed.
I suppose you can only assume that some kind of external influence took the plane down. If there was a technical failure, surely the plane would still have radio contact, broadcast its position whilst still in the air etc.

Perhaps we should throw them in a cage, lock it and lower them into a pool whilst filming it. Maybe we should attach several explosives around multiple people's necks and blow it. Maybe we should get a short knife and start sawing the heads off.
Oh wait, thats there tactics.

this is a really good series of BBC documentaries by a journalist called Adam Curtis
it traces the rise of Al Qaeda - and by extension ISIS (Islamic extremism) - with special reference to Egypt

I will only post the link to the first one
you can find the others
but he has also done the excellent "Bitter Lake"
again if you have not seen these, they are well worth watching

Tunisia's holiday industry fooked as well - their minister was appealing for the UK to change its 'essential travel only' policy - apparently holiday bookings are down something 90% so far this year - and Turkeys is down 40%.....
We went to Mexico - which was nice
saw a few there who said they had gone to Mexico as there was limited choice to go anywhere safely in Europe!!

I've got to ask - if you're located in Texas most of the year, as your user info states, and which has no shortage of hot weather itself, what's the attraction of going to Turkey for a summer holiday?
very true. I'm going there because my Texan girlfriend used to live in and teach English in Turkey, so she has lots of friends there. I've never been to Turkey. So a nice holiday and reunion/intro to m'GF's friends will be cool.It is bloody hot n nice here though, about to have a mostly 40c+ summer, so Turkey might be a little bit of respite?
