Any action being taken is the question and please don't mind but how can you be sure they are pikeys not like they have it stamped on the head unless you guys have got them busted and there's a story you've missed out telling us
Dude please explain you can't just say pikeys resorting to nicking pallets unless they've been caught or are they local that you've recognised?

Pikeys will steal anything... *FACT*

Like how they get the kids to actually lift the gear as they can't be prosecuted.......

I obviously can't know for certain, but on the balance of probability . . . .

The adult did handle one pallet so he's implicated.

Child labour?

The van is insured which is a amazing! (or it's on false plates)

It's all part of their rich cultural heritage.

As I have said before when there was a discussion about our Romany friends;
Has anyone or anyone you know had a positive encounter with a member of this community?

That question was originally posed years ago & I have yet to have a reply.

We've got hundreds out the back of my place that we pay to get uplifted. Did you get their number and I'll give them a phone to see how much they'd take them for?!

Long story but I had a Mitsubishi shogun that I had aquired from a friend, a non runner because it needed a new turbo - which I sourced and put on

It started and ran (I think I gave it an MOT too and thinking about I put on a new radiator)

It became apparent the the engine had an issue with the top end - which meant it was going to be a nightmare to sell

Anyway after a while of it sitting in my drive (my wife was a bit miffed tbh) I sold it to a father and son (travellers)

They knocked on my door, test drove it - paid cash (although less than we had agreed lol)

The only thing was they could not sign their name, and in fact did not seem to want the V5 anyway (I certainly did not want the V5 and no car)

Well tbh I did it for them (completed the V5) after they left and sent it all to the DVLA - I just wanted rid, so they did perform a service - never heard from them again

They were always polite etc (maybe a bit unfair of me but there was always a slight undercurrent of menace - but I am soft as a lambs wool blanket tbh, my only defence in these situations is absurd politeness myself)

It's encouraged around here, lots of places have signs on piles of pallets. I used to chop them up for kindling, but now just chop up the odd log.

yes, I am always on the lookout for pallets, they make great kindling

too good to use on a well lit fire imo

I kept all the ones we had, due to some building work - and chopped them into kindling

I went swimming at our local baths when I was a young lad; maybe ten or eleven. Anyway, walking home I strolled past a field that was periodically used by gypsies and I saw one of the kids bombing around on a mini-motorbike. I'd always wanted one and so I lent up against the gate and watched, green-eyed, as he went round and round the field. After a few minutes he came over to me and we got chatting; he seemed like a nice boy. He invited me on to 'their' site and took me over to his caravan where his dad was sat outside watching proceedings. "Would you like a go?" said dad. "Oh yes" I replied excitedly. "Well you can fight my boy and if you win you can have a go". Shocked and a little upset I walked hurriedly away. Different breed.

Has similar experiences, when I was working in Essex there was an official council site on the industrial estate I worked on, the kids would run into the warehouse and nick anything they could. We had to drill and padlock the bonnets shut on the lorries else he batteries would go missing.

Going to get lunch one afternoon at the local burger van I was approached by 4 of them asking me if I wanted to fight for the gold I was wearing (bear in mind I was about 17 and lived in Essex, so I had the odd sovereign ring and maybe a chain, and an earring or two as well) against what he had.

Being young, not very adept at the art of fisty cuffs and out numbered I tried to decline for while, until they got bored, gave e a slap and let me on my way. Was pretty intimidating to be honest.

This was just one incident, there were many.

Tell me about it.

This was in Basildon, they pretty much did whatever they wanted to do. Dale Farm was, and still is a no go areas for anyone, including the police.

Am sure it is the same in other places as well, but there are pubs and places that you just dont go to.

Although, know people that 'do business' with them and they can be very honorable, as long as you play by their rules.

I don't get the fighting bit, but let a man be a man and they do seem to keep it civil among themselves, not hitting when a man is down, shake hands after etc.

I think they are just in opposition to how we live our lives.

And they will nick it, if it is not nailed, glued and riveted to a boulder that is nailed to the ground

My brother was approached by one on a night out, asked him what he was looking at.. at this point my brother was wasted and didn't even have the ability to respond. The lad just chinned him.

My brothers mate saw this and ran across the road to his aid and was set upon by four of them hospitalising him.

They seem like nice people.
