I've been using Waze for a while and to be fair it's bang on. It's much quicker to spot issues than my Tom Tom or Google maps and it reroutes me down actually shorter routes, rather than just another way.
It's alerted me to Police traps and accidents, as well as broken down cars and hazards.
It's well worth a look.

Hi,
I use Waze all the time on my iPhone
If you are visiting a new country and won't have mobile data on your mobile whilst there - simply open Waze whilst you are still at home. Then zoom in to the area you will be visiting and load the map of that area - ensuring you zoom in to get good detail.
When you actually arrive in the country and open Waze - it uses the built in GPS and the maps already stored on your phone - without the need to use mobile data!
Cheers
Steve
