agree with animals, but not division bell. high hopes was the only standout track for me. dark side is one of the most complete albums ever made in terms of concept, music, lyrics and theme. the iconic prism cover by storm thorgerson is instantly recognised the world over and is one of my favourite albums.

cant believe you have momentary lapse of reason in your top 10 ahead of some better floyd offerings, and piper last?? a momentary lapse indeed!

Darkside of the Moon and Wish You Were Here were group efforts and as such are truly brilliant albums.

Roger Waters' ego, paranoia and increasing isolation from the rest of the band made The Wall a great album but not a group effort, similarly the Final Cut.

I personally like the Sid Barrett era stuff. But Pink Floyd live was the greatest thing I have ever seen live on a stage.

Tangerine Dream are also a fave as is Steve Hillage or Yes.

Piper in last place is sacrilege Matt, it was the defining album that got them a recording contract along with performances at the ufo club, I get that the Barrett era is different to the Gilmore era although I have an Italian copy of piper that has Dave Gilmore on the front cover at Kew Gardens and he wasn't even a member then, for me the 2 Barrett LP's have to be up there although you could tell he was losing it by then, wish you were here for me as dsotm is over rated imo, although suprised no one else has mentioned 'More' purely for Green is the Colour or Ibiza Bar, they also did a different version of Interstellar Overdive on the LP Tonight we all make love in London...a typical of the scene at the time album on the little known Instant Label

More for Cymbaline! The live versions from the early 70`s are to die for.
Tbh I prefer Floyds pastoral stuff such as pillow of winds to the psychadelic and social commentary offerings.

So how many 70 year olds on this thread, out of interest, cos that's how old you'd have to be to even remember most that stuff

The Wall for me especially the live 1980/81 album. Was never a great lover of DSOTM.

The joys of a record shop, a curious mind and bothering to see what happened when things were all black and white.

Youth is not a barrier any more.

Ok, best track from DSOTM and The Wall?

I'm going 'Time' and 'Comfortably Numb' (obviously).

time of course from dark side and comfortably numb from the wall closely followed by the song not on the album but in the film "when the tigers broke free" such a raw and emotional song even tho its quite short but one that really gets to the heart of waters song writing, the death of his father.

Born in '74, but own all floyd,Hendrix, doors, led Zeppelin, doors, them, stones, Beatles, pretty things, zombies, Nick drake, you get the idea....big fan of 60's r&b/mod scene and psychedelia and progressive which had all sadly ended by the time I was born
