Default Advice regarding Huskie Dogs escaping

Hi All

Need advice here.

Just spoke to mum on the phone who is in quite a state.

The other night two huskie dogs came onto their property, and started chasing their sheltland ponies around (one of them has breathing issues and was really struggling to get away).

They managed to grab one of the dogs by the collar which slipped off and had the owners name and number on there. They knew them as they lived around their village. Not highly thought of family. I went to school with their kids and don't have anything good to say about them!

Anyway they have two guinea pigs and a rabbit kept in a hutch but unfortunately they managed to get in the rabbit hutch and kill the rabbit.

I asked my mum if she reported and she has said to who? The owners of the dogs were not bothered, said they had an 8ft fence to keep them in but sometimes they jump it! Said sorry then left my mum in floods of ears.

She is worried they will come back but my question is, can they report or it actually do anything about it?

This, don't bother with the council. It's the owners responsibility to maintain control of their dogs. It could easily have been far worse.

Will they take it seriously as it was just an animal they killed?

My mums is ringing them now.

If they fob her off then I will get involved.

Why oh why do people have animals they can't control.

lol you wouldn't want to get on the wrong end of this woman I can tell ya

My mum bless her is so upset.

She rescued this rabbit as it was living in terrible conditions and she keeps saying she let it down.

It was shut in its hutch there was nothing she could have done.

I am just relieved she and her two very well behaved dogs didn't get hurt.

I think what makes this worse is that the owners of these dogs are just not bothered so if the police don't do anything I will be making a trip round the village to their house!

Who in their right mind keeps a pack animal, that is designed to live in temperatures way below zero, should be run or excercised for hours a day, keeps them in a back yard and are not designed as pets?

It beggars belief!

Well spoke to the police. They said must ring the rspca or council. Rang the council who said must speak to the police.

Googled local police station. Couldn't find a phone number just a contact form so filled that in.

Just 30 mins later a special police office phoned her back and has taken all the details and has said they going to pay them a visit.

So I have said to my mum well done you have done all you can so its up to the police now.

The special has said he will phone my mum back after they have seen them to update.

Horrible things to have as pets as far as I'm concerned, the owners need shooting as well as the dogs

Well my mum still blaming herself.

Wish she wouldn't it doesn't do any good.

I suppose time will be the healer.

I know when I next go round the place will be kitted out like Fort Knox.
