If you're single and on the dole then you'll hardly be rolling in it. When I was made redundant all I got was £65 a week and that was it.
It's when you have a few children that the housing benefit, child tax credits etc soon start to add up.

So for having 2 kids and no job he clears almost 3k a month?

That's not right surely there's more to it than that?? Pretty sure you don't get that amount just for having 2 kid's.

I'm 100% sure on why or what but I'd assume he's on disability and kids been diagnosed with something but they all look and act fine of what I've seen?

I believe the last time we spoke a while back he was near £2900

It might be bollocks but he looks like he's doing well.

I find these stories of people on 50K (gross) a year hard to believe

maybe a few - but with exceptional circumstances, like disabled (disability benefit) with 1000's of kids

and it would never be paid in cash - but just rent/council tax/school meals paid etc

I would imagine life would be pretty fvcking grim, being poor must be grinding

being poor with our sh1te weather - must be doubly worse

I am on the dole after being made redundant.

Still looking for a job, been nearly 9 months now.

If you have never been in the situation you are wrong to judge others who are.

Don't forget these figures probably include housing/rent which as we know is astronomical
these days.I know it's a benefit but it is not cash in hand.

I have to say I was luckly to get anything due to the fact that I have always contributed and the fact I have assets.

The system is very skewed. It rewards irresponsible behavior & fails those that have been productive & prudent.

I don't think it's an easy ride for most, but there will always be some that seem to do ok.

Bit like the ones on the benefit TV programmes, l feel sure that these are the extremes that's why the get on the box.

never been on the dole
always had a job

dont think I could handle being on the dole quite frankly
alot less money and I would go crackers sitting about and not knowing when I was going to get another job again.

My father had a very bad accident back in 1996 and was made disabled and has not worked since
I seen how it has changed him as before the accident at work he was energetic and full of life
and now not working and living off the government he is a bit of a broken man

dont ever want this to happen to me so will claw my way through life to make sure
we dont go through this

I left school in 1984 in the middle of the miners strike and did spend a while on the dole.

Not nice at all, feeling totally worthless and having no money.

I have sympathy for people who are genuinely disabled or lose their job through no fault of their own, but very little for the typical tracksuit clad ba$tard breeders who clog up the post office getting their hand-outs.

Wasn't aimed at you that comment BBB3 as you made it clear in your post this wasn't what you were doing, however the amount of people who have judged me is shocking.

I just want to work and quickly if not the scooby has to go as its just rotting outside in the hope I get a job to get it through an MOT.

Apart from the tracksuit, you've just described my next door neighbours.

The problem with the media/tv getting involved with unemployment and people on the dole is it shows them all as scrounging no-hopers and all are unfortunately tarnished with the same "hate campaign" brush, much in the same way as Muslims are.
It is subliminal mind/people control that causes a divide amongst us.

I would say without looking at corrupt statistics that the majority are desperate to find work, (their are a minority that don't want to work I know)but it must be a terrible way to live your life struggling to make ends meet for the basics like food, heating ect, makes me very thankful I have work, they need help not a manufactured hate campaign by those with influence.

Yes but Cameron could never demonise all those on benefits as utter p1sstaking scum if he didn't have the Daily Mail and their ilk to find these people and write the 'outraged of Kensington' story about them!

Everyone is also assuming a disability is visable to those looking upon them.
