No other sport has serial violence and tribal crap running through its veins like football. Only yesterday I met a tool that won't even visit the town of Preston because he's a Blackpool fan and, I quote, 'Preston are scum'.

Also as regards your first link are you being deliberately daft or just trying to be divisive! What has a political protest got to do with anything - they were protesting about the state of their country, they were not GP fans FFS!

 

I went to Spanish gp this year and was sitting not too far away from several men who were so drunk they fell asleep shortly into the race.
Granted not fighting but equally as idiotic given the price of tickets.

Violence and murders happen at events be it sports, music or whatever its the violent world we live in. It would be nice if you could go to events without fear of being attacked but once rivalry is added it adds a threat.

 

Sorry, but are you really trying to say football doesn't have a tribal violence problem and you are just as likely to get attacked at any type of event?

 

The club president said it's nothing to do with football, so you're obviously wrong, must have been a random attack and the victim just happened to be wearing a football shirt and on his way to the game.

Irrespective of why Chris posted this thread I have to agree violence and sectarianism is more prevalent in football than other sports. To lose your life for attending a football match is unacceptable on any level. I don't know what the solution is but will say football attracts more idiots than any other sport.

As for football being headline news, your illustration of something you don't like being on the main site could apply to any sport, for any other individual.

 

I have an interest in getting a sport banned when it continually promotes violence and death as part of its culture! Is that really too hard for you to understand? Yes probably!

But it doesn't though does it, football gets way more exposure than any other sport. For instance when Ferguson stepped down as Manchester United manager it was the lead story on the BBC news.... thats' clearly stupid as it is only a manager retiring from a sports club... hardly worthy of the main news page!
