This, also has the advantage that you can have a beer (if that suits) and go for a **** when you feel like it.

And I bet you got a grope, a bag of chips on the way home and still had change.

The 4 of us went to see that new monkey film last week - with 2 adult / 2 kids, pop corns and drinks it was around £60!

Ive literally just got back from watching the inbetweeners 2 at vue, i nearly fell over when the girl behind the desk told me it was £20 for me and the missus just to get in, it was another £4 for a fooking coke, and they wonder why people download movies or buy pirate dvds, i can get 8 of the latest films for £20 of my local dvd guy

good film though, proper funny and certainly worth a watch.

You could have a beer at the vue cinema at Star City in Birmingham that I went to yesterday at a cost of £4.50 for a bottle of Carlsberg

Cost me and the missus £23 for the tickets, and then popcorn and a couple of beers and the missus a glass of wine comes to nearly £50 for a night out at the cinema!!

And they wonder why so many people are into pirate/copied DVD films nowadays, perhaps if cinemas didn't extract the urine with the prices of new releases and everything else more people would go to the cinema.

Fecking scandal TBH....

There's no two ways about it,the UK has expensive ticket prices, but compared to some of the other countries its not too bad,but still as long as punters pay there is no need for them to adjust it.http://www.expatistan.com/blog/23-To...-movie-tickets.SJ.

It's the price of food and drink that takes the micky. The ticket price I can just about swallow but I'll be damned if I'm paying a tenner for a bit of popcorn and a drink! Sod that.

No I went to Worcester as my girlfriend lives near there although I went to the new Glos one near to when it was just built. Very nice in there I must admit but still doesn't justify the price!

If I ever go I take my own food and drink, or rather the wife does in a bag - **** paying another tenner or so for a couple of quids worth of junk food.

Yep popcorn and coke for £8 is a joke and I don't like either from the cinema anyway, nice bag of butterkissed toffee popcorn and a can of shandy bass for me.

Hodgy, how much.

Used to have an unlimited pass to a local cinema,

to make it cost effective you would need to go twice a month.

Even using the pass, it would cost the same again once we got there for the

refreshments

There was a tv program about this a while back, popcorn is the biggest

profit maker in the world

Business rates probably have a lot to do with it.

It would be interesting to see what proportion of cinema tickets in this country are bought cut-price with any of the various special offer deals available (unlimited attendance monthly passes, half-price passes available from some phone carriers, half-price offers given away with purchase of previous tickets, etc), as opposed to purchased full-price. I'd imagine it must easily be a double-figure percentage, but curious to know just how high.

Yeah, quite unbelievable

Presumably it is the roundabout on the A27 that causes the issue

Sorry but cinema ticket prices have absolutely nothing to do with film pirating.

1) Cinema attendances have pretty much risen year on year since 1984.

2) The sort of people who pirate movies use cinema ticket prices and DVD prices to justify their criminal activities, but those sort of people would download a movie for free no matter what the cost of the DVD/cinema ticket!
