oil leak on air box side of engine?!

Default oil leak on air box side of engine?!

Hi all,

I have a impreza wrx blobeye 2003 stock, I pulled up at the traffic lights the other day noticed smoke from scoop on the bonnent and the smell of burning oil so I checked in the engine bay and notice a patch of oil on the airbox side of engine any ideas would be greatly appreciated?? Also im in enfield is there anyone you guys can recommend to have look at my car for me that know these scoobys well? Thanks in advance. Nat

If it was burning on your exhaust or turbo it could be a split oil feed to the turbo or more commonly it could be your rocker cover gasket. These always go on Imprezas as the heat from the up pipe dries out the gaskets and it splits. Mine has gone and is going to get done soon, not an expensive fix.

Thanks for the reply thats sounds exactly it by the looks of things is it easy enough to do myself or is it a pro job? Also my oil was low this morning so I topped it up and when I checked the dip stick I noticed a white streaks in the oil could it be condensation a subaru specialist I know told me that is not likely to be head gasket could be condensation of some sort any ideas?

No ideas about the white steak I'm afraid. I don't think the gasket is that hard to change just awkward to get access to. For the sake of an hour or so labour I would get a specialist to do it.

If you are willing to travel I can highly recommend FBTuning which is based just outside if high Wycombe. A lot of us on here us Rich as he is is honest well priced and what he doesn't know about imprezas isn't worth knowing.

Your welcome mate, hope you get it sorted. Another place that might be better for you could be slow boy racing. Think it's based near dartford.
