Default Power tool help needed

I am about to put new pine skirting in my house but have found out that the compound electric mitre saw I have won't cut actions the whole width of the board.

Has anyone local to Watford got a sliding compound mitre saw I can borrow for a bit as I can only do the skirting when I'm off work and what with doing shifts and our current spate of rubbish weather its going to take a bit longer?

I know its a pain but make a cut on one side of the board as far as you can then turn the board around swap the angle and finnish the cut

How far does it miss the cut? Before I got a sliding one, I used to put blocks under what I was cutting, to bring it closer to the blade.
