Default My Blobeye STI

Hi I thought I'd post up a thread about my new STI some of you's might recognise it already - I used to own a Astra VXR (stage 3) but I've been wanting to make a change to the STI for a while and finally made the decision to fly down to Manchester and buy this one.

This is how it used to look like before I bought it -

Different wheels & no spoiler/private plate.

I bought it with the standard wheels/spoiler back on -

Before I set off home I taped up the front end to minimise any stone chips with blue 3m tape a bit stupid I know, but it does the trick.

First thing I've bought was a replacement scoop and got rid of the flat vent (test fitting photo)

I've got the car booked in to the bodyshop now for the scoop, front bumper and bonnet to be repainted I'm getting rid of the black in between the grills I'm looking to get a clean standard look with a splitter. I also sold the carbon fibre fog intake and replaced it with a standard cover.

The engine bay -

A quick photo from the visit to Bitz last week for a hunter 4 wheel alinement and check over (great service)

I've also replaced some of the bulbs for leds and the rear number plate but that's pretty much where I'm at the moment just waiting to take the car down to the bodyshop then I'll paint correct it but over the next couple months I'm looking to have the windows tinted, XXR wheels, splitter and a couple other bits once I've done the cosmetic and tidied it up I'll look at more power but for now here's some of the spec -

Nice spec. Glad you're putting it back to standard. Have you removed that horrid vortex thing yet? Are you a keen detailer?

very nice, glad your removing the black between the grill and going back to standard.

Think chrome black xxr 527s would look brilliant on your car.

Yeah, I remember it being advertised for a while. Those naff wheels did it no favours at all.

Glad you're putting it back to a more aesthetically pleasing standard, good luck

So a small update I got everything back from the bodyshop but juggling work and training it's been a nightmare to put back together. So far I've got the bumper back on so I could take it a short drive as my clifford alarm kept'd draining my battery.

Luckily I've got the cable to change the settings on it so thats sorted now and whilst the headlights was out I've fitted PIAA yellow hi beam bulbs, mtec cree sidelights and mtec dips can't recommend the PIAA bulbs such a difference between the quality and light from the previous bulbs I've used.

Whilst the car was apart I've painted the crash bar and subframe to freshen it up although no one will ever see it lol but here's a quick snap with my iphone hopefully I'll finish the rest of it by the weekend but I'm definitely much happier now it's back to what it should be looking like I feel it's much more refined and fresher than the previous theme it's exactly what am after - standard look with small touches and plenty of power

I need to fit the winglets, fog light covers new scoop (i have a friends black wrx scoop on atm to keep the rain out) and remove the bonnet spacers then I'll be paint correcting it later next month along with a splitter/semi slicks & XXRs being fitted.

Haven't updated this in a while -

50/50 refinement to be done here -

In natural light after being hit with 105-

Ordered 4 semi slicks for the new wheels from DT -

Huge thanks to Kris @ Highland Performance Developments it took me weeks to decide on a colour for my XXR 527s and a last minute change from Chrome Black to Bronze sealed the deal I've just picked them up (sorry about the instagram photos I'll take proper ones once they are fitted) -

Something different to the normal black/grey on blue scoobs I'm over the moon! although my tyres haven't arrived yet just chased them up and Parcel Force will deliver them on Tuesday 13th

Which brand/model of tyre did you go for?

I nearly bought 4 AD08R semi slick Yokos for my summer wheels last week, ended up buying vredesteins instead!

I had AD08s on my previous car they were brilliant I opted for Nankang NS2Rs this time round- ordered them from Demon tweeks but if I'm honest I'm not that impressed with their service.

Some tasty mods - NS2Rs are getting a really good write up at the moment and I'll be getting a set of them next time around but using Maggy at RTS as he's local which always helps - DT can be hit and miss but I have been using them for over 20-years

Neither can I they'll be on the car on Tuesday providing I can get tuner nuts in time for the fitting.

Yeah I've not been impressed with DT at all if I'm honest and I've complained about it the lady on the phone moreless told me to f off.
