Default MY95 WRX TYPE RA STI VERSION 2

Well here I am after a few years off!
New addition to the family. A pure unmolested, honest,standard,solid genuine Sti RA Version 2. Always had a soft spot because of this;

Applied model- GC8 C47D
Option code- 61
Engine type- EJ20GDW4PJ
Transmission- TY752VB3EA
Colour code- 230
Trim code- 520

Best bits I love
DONT HAVE-
No side skirts
No front fogs
No rear wash wipe
No ABS
No Redtop manifold
No electric windows

DOES HAVE-
DCCD
Roof vent
IC Spray
Sti QuickRack
Strong desirable Closed Deck Block
Standard 280bhp/240ftlb
TD05 H Turbo
All this and only 1190kg!

Few pics

Lots tinkering and fettling methinks

Comment guys?

Very very very nice mate - looks in great condition from the pics, welcome back to the fold!

Where did you source such a fine specimen if you don't mind me asking as I think I spent the last 3 months looking everyday (much to the disgust of the missus ) for RA's, Standard Classic STi's, Type R's etc etc and clearly missed this one! (I bought a real nice new age in the end!)

Cool

Stunning car (being a Version 2 owner I may be a bit biased).

Thanks guys, I'd say its good to be back but I have never really left lol
Always actively looking. Not chasing them jap big figures too much now as fairly content(as can be lol) with S4 and 510/700.
It's quite a breath of fresh air no one fluffing it up as something it's not!
Needs a few minor bits but nothing major.

Need to make the BIGGEST decision

Turn to a stripped out track car(more chassis/brakes simple JGM map)

or

Return to ultimate former glory semi-restoration

?????

Lol! did you get it from a police compound? I searched high and low for a clean one like yours and found bugger all! Very nice mate! Well I was gunning for a classic but worried that a lot of them would be rusting like they'd been kept in a swamp for years and then MattyB who was a huge help answering a million of my questions about which car to get linked up a bugeye and I found this bugeye love I never knew I had and so here I am in a black bug sti! It's a very happy place to be where my happy little right foot is right at home! Ps: still wouldn't mind a classic at some point but never actually been out in one!

Stunning, one of my favorite models. Rare to find in nice unmolested condition too.
Definitely derserves to be returned to its former glory, be such a shame to turn a rare car like this into a stripped out track beast.

Just a point for you though chap, its not a V2 STI RA. The V2 car are GC8C4DD,

Correct - it's a v1 not v2.

The my95 was a strange one as they didn't actually do a normal sti, the only STI available was the RA like the one above.
The V1 STI was a my94 car and V2 STI was a my96 car.

No sti badges on the wings. Does that gearbox code match the one on the VIN? Nice choice of car

The gearbox code above is the correct one for that car. It was also used in its sister car of the same year, the WRX RA.
It should have the wing badges like you say, they are still available but not cheap.
Should also have the large sticker on the boot lid too which again, are still available.

The reason I mentioned the box code is because I have one sitting here but its not got DCCD. Its a low ratio box on a 3.9 diff though.
I noticed the pics had DCCD lights on the dash so I'm a bit confused

The VB3EA box in the WRX RA does not have DCCD. The DCCD was fitted off the production line for the STI RA.
Both are low ratio boxes and use 3.9 diff.

VB4BA is not DCCD but the CA is.
The BA is from WRX RA and CA from STI RA (My96).

Great to see another V1 about

RCM do the boot badges, you need to understand which one you need as they are different for each year.

See this link and PM Stuart if you want a cheaper alternative for the rear boot lid sticker.
From what i can see they look very good.
