Default Another Blob de-tango'd.. :)

Finally grew some and detango'd the blob today. Missus is away for the day so I booked the entire day to get it done. Only took a few hours in the end..

Grille off, bumper loosened off, air intake off... lights out.

Bit nervous at this point

The offending items..

And now

Cheap as chips and makes a hell of a difference..

Is it just a matter of warming them up in the oven. Popping them apart. Removing the orange parts then sticking back together. Simples?

Pretty much.. 10-15mins @ low temp.. about 100c.. prise apart, remove orange crapness, push back together then back in the oven same temp same amount of time. Then push together a bit more and refit screws..

Then breath out..

Looks much better!

Going to do mine in the next couple of weeks and paint the bit inside as well.

What indicator bulbs did you get to replace the originals?

Silvatec items from revolution motorsport, only 11 quid pics of silver blob above are very cool, like it.

Sounds easy enough but are the lights not glued together, if you split apart do they reseal or are there some screws involved as well?

Thanks

Take a bit of care when you pull them apart to make sure the seal doesn't melt too much and get stringy. It will be a real bitch to get off if the goo gets on the reflector part of the light.

silvatec's arent very bright. I would avoid them personally.
I have x-tech bulbs which i found to be brighter.
Phillips silvervision are much better but impossible to find nowadays.

I personally think this is about the best visual mod you can do to a blob or bug wrx for the cost involved. Looks great without them cheap nasty bits of orange plastic!

Why pay £7 quid for silver bulbs? Just give the orange ones a light coat of silver spray, job done!!
