Default New brakes

Thought I'd post up a couple of pics of my new brakes (thanks to Godspeed )

Half way through - up on jacks and stands, looking weird

Rears done:

Fronts done:

Looks a lot better now with the silver callipers too - painted by my wife actually. She saw me trying to paint them in the garage, and being an artist, she decided that it was kinder to give me a hand instead of letting me struggle with them (I can't paint very well) - very kind of her, and the end result is much better than I could have achieved

Just got a set of these from Ian! Delivered in no time at all!

Still struggling to fit them though as my first attempt saw that my old disk wouldn't budge! How were yours to replace?

The painted calipers look great fella, nice work by the missus!

Got a set of these from Ian myself, fronts are 2 piece disk and bells, well pleased with them and the way they look under the wheels.

Is this the kit that uses the original calipers but larger discs and pads?

If so, can you post up how you find them compared to standard as may get a set of these in the future instead of going for the STI bremos?

Hi guys i want to get a set of these discs and pads when i get paid... did you go for the discs and kevlar pads deal by godspeed?

http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~god...id_product=141

If so how do they perform? They are a hell of a lot cheaper than Brembo and EBC discs and pads!

Yeah, the rears were a bit of a pain to remove, but nothing too tricky. Remember to take the handbrake off

If they are really stuck, then take a piece of wood and a hammer, hit the hub part round the edge a few times to free it up. There are two threaded holes in the disk hub as well - these are to help you remove them. Use a bolt about an inch long or more that has the correct thread (metric I'm sure, not 100% sure about the thread tho so be careful and try it first). Insert the two bolts, then tighten them equally to pull the disk off. It will be tight, but it should come off

Also, when re-fitting them, make sure the hubs are clean and free from grit, rust etc. Essential that the new disks fit flush to the hubs to ensure they run true. I wire brushed the hubs before fitting the new disks.

Hope that helps a bit mate - yes, she does paint very well

They look really nice, especially with the Brembos

This kit is the same size as standard I think, 294mm, but yes uses the original callipers - should be better than standard I reckon once they are bedded in properly

Slightly different kit, mine was for the WRX so the disks are smaller (294 front, 290 rear) but yes kevlar pads as well - need another 300 miles or so to bed in properly, then I'll post up the results vs. standard brakes.

I found the standard brakes were pretty good really, but had a warped front disk, so used that as an upgrade opportunity

Is that on standard 4 pot callipers or Brembos? The extra diameter must make a big difference

Right, ok thanks - Godspeed does a 335mm kit i think that uses the standard 4 pots, but i think the Brembo setup is great if you've got them already fitted
