Hello everybody, Im new here, Here is a quick story about myself and my car(s)

Ever since passing my driving test i have been a Volkswagen fanatic, ive owned several MK2 Golf Gti's, a couple of Audis and a couple of VW Corrados. My current car, a Corrado 16v has been off the road more than i have driven it, soo many problems so i ended up replacing the engine and many of the bits around it but it still has days when it doesnt want to go anywhere. I'm bored of it breaking down now so i have decided to go against my faith and buy a Jap car!
I went to look at a couple of imprezas this weekend and decided to buy 1 after a test drive. Its an X reg 2000 turbo, pretty much standard other than a 'prodrive' exhaust and induction kit.
The owner is a Subaru fanatic and works in the parts department at the local Subaru dealer so hopefully if i need anything i can get cheap genuine parts from him.
The only bit im worried about this car is the milage, its currently on 108000 miles but has been serviced every 6 months so hopefully im worrying about nothing.
Im picking it up this weekend so i will post more pics of it then but until then here is the only pic i have at the moment...



Any help or advice would be nice as ive not owned a turbod engine car before, i know i have to check the oil level quite often and thats as far as my knowlege goes.

I have a couple of questions tho..
Is it worth getting a turbo timer or is it not really needed also whats the best way to fit a dump valve? is it wirth it or shall i just leave it all alone?

Hello mate.Nice looking car there and I'm sure you'll love it.
Don't worry about the mileage,if it's been looked after and serviced well it should have many more miles left in it.
Personally I don't bother with turbo timers,mainly because my last car had one that didn't work with the alarm.I basically had to wait until it cut the engine and arm the alarm.
Dump valves aren't a good idea on an impreza.Theres lots of threads with running problems that are traced to the dump valve.Theres a standard recirculating dump valve on there from the factory and it does a fine job.

Thanks for the quick reply mate, i will hold off getting a timer in that case, ive heard they arent really needed on an impreza anyway aparently, i have no idea tbh.
I was thinking about getting the standard alarm replaced for something with remote start so i can warm it up before i get in and drive off but i dont know if this is a good idea or not lol

as for the turbo timer, many opinions on here but i think unless
your drive is at the end of a drag strip then i wouldn't bother.

Welcome mate. Nice scooby. Just take it easy fr the last couple of miles off boost to cool down. No turbo timer needed.
You'll find plenty of help and advice here, I have. Had my scooby about 5 months and SN has been a great help.

I know that car he has really looked after it so wouldnt think you have much to worry about. Really nice fella too, will help you out if needed

 

Yeah, i dont wanna say too much about him just incase but he works for a Subaru dealer in surrey area. I cant wait to pick it up! Id like to meet up with other fellow impreza owners in the area too if there are ever any local meets?

I plan on subtle mods really, nothing over the top and dont really want to mess around with the engine as im sure it will keep me happy as it is. I think the previous owner got it rolling road tested and it came up with 230ish

 

Nice motor, I had a micared once upon a time You sure you dont want to do a few mods? a sports decat n £500 remap will see 260-270bhp and makes all the difference

So, i managed to get my **** into gear and get all the money together earlier than i was expecting so i picked her up last night. Im loving every second of it!
Its just so planted on the road and you get traction where my previous cars would just spin up. Its going to take some getting used to!

I know its probably been asked a million times before but i cant seem to find my pait code any where, i have a few panels that need a touch up and have a new boot and spoiler comming soon. Can anybody tell me what the paint code is for my car please?

Under the bonnet, on top of the suspension turret is a metal plaque which has the paint code embossed on it.
