Default Im back with another Scoob

Hi all, i have recently purchased another scooby

I seem to have a habit of buying them doing my bit and selling them on, this one i think i'll keep for a while (but i say that about them all)

She is a 96 wrx sti type RA

Although she doesn't look 100% at the moment she certainly drives it,

I've only owned her a few days so still discovering little bits and pieces she has on her.

Things i've found so far are;

17" rota grid reps
GReddy front mount intercooler
Trust air filter
quick shift gearbox
Full group N rally exhaust from the turbo (sits way off to the left out the back)
Tein rear springs (don't know what happened to putting the fronts on?)
walbro fuel pump
440 injectors
dump valve
boost guage
Blitz voice guide turbo timer
I will have to check what ecu its running as i took her out on the air field a couple days ago and she flew straight up too 147mph until i got a little scared and backed off, did have more in her tho

quite a few i may have missed but i've got mental block right now.

I have just fitted the Blitz VGTT today and wired up the back lights on the boost guage

Plans and things i already have

refurb and paint the wheels white
i have a prodrive hi rise spoiler to fit
drilled and grooved disks with red stuff pads
hoping to get some coilovers but i have a set of lowering springs to go on for now
toyo proxy tyres all around
sti 6 front bumper with fog covers and grille
crystal headlights

Now this has come though import registered as a GL, my knowledge on imprezas are limited and i got told it it a TYPE RA?? can anybody confirm this or give me any pointers to check?

Here are a couple pictures, the black is only vinyl and will be removed over the winter when i give her a new lick of paint

Can anybody shed some light on what make the exhaust is? i just got told its a group N rally exhaust

Thanks for looking

A RA would not do 147 mph as the gearbox is not geared for that unless you have a walt disney speedo,do a bit of research on the impreza ra

Gearbox code says its a 95 WRX STI
If it was a 1996 wrx sti ra the box number listed is TY752VB4CA

From the pictures you have a v1/2 engine, might be a cdb. Have a look what ecu you have and if you have a full de-cat system. Also check your injectors, if there greys you have 380ccs. Then again you might have a fully forged engine..... any history with the car?

That only proves that 95 WRX's and 95 STI's have the same gearbox

i thought it might be a CDB i will check if it has cross hatchings in a minute.

i will also check the injectors but i would have thought they would be bigger as it is 300bhp and 380 will be pushed at 300 dont you think?

Its been remapped and then rolling road at 299bhp was 249 or something before remap i will take a pic of the rolling road print out

Not really much history, alot of reciepts that dont match up to parts on the car, a service book from a X reg turbo 2000?? and some other bits and pieces.

True 380s would be maxed. Find out what ecu you have. could be a chipped one or you might hit gold with a simtec

here is the rolling road print outs,

How did they manage to get 52 bhp out of a remap??

I will look through the paper work to see if i can come across any thing?

really appreciate everybody's input and suggestions

when your car was in standard form with the standard ECU that came with the early engines ie 2C,W6 or U8 if would of been running around 240 bhp.

With the mods that you have on the car now ie FMIC/fuel pump/ poss de-cat/ also you will have an uprated ecu. Maybe a Z4 (260 in standard form) if chipped and with your mods 290ish

You might have a mappable ecu, if so you could prob push 330, if you have 440s and a TD05

Looking at your 2 power runs the 240 graph shows a dip in power at 5000 to 5500. looks like the clutch was slipping. May of had same power on both runs but couldn't get it down on the first due to clutch problems

12psi or 0.8bar making over 290bhp is good going

Bet you have a standard Z4 (0.8 bar)

noo i would just put that down to either boost problems, fueling or just poor setup?? look at the torque lines on the first compared to the second.

i will check the ecu tomorrow and then make a decision weather to dig deep and get a simtek, but then i will also be wanting to get an apexi safc and hks fcd to run with it so i can see whats going on, then i will take her for another remap

i will be honest because i dont really want to sell it on, it stands me at under £500 with 12 months mot and 6 months tax. so if it blew up tomorrow it wouldn't be the end of the world?

i had abit of a dilemma earlier wiring in the turbo timer as i have an after market alarm with auto lock device, so i cant run the turbo timer like most other people, i will have to wait around while she runs off then lock the doors, but not a massive problem, as i dont tend to drive it hard, just another little perk i suppose

An applied model code ending 48D means that its a JDM Impreza WRX and nothing more: sorry - this is an absolute fact. Ending 47D would be a poverty spec WRX Type-RA; 4ED a WRX STI and 4DD a WRX STI Type-RA.

Its a C series (1995 or 1996 model year), so it had a Z4 ECU and made 260PS when it was new (on 98RON fuel, not 100RON which came later).

Also: the transmission code means little - C&K strike again!
