Black Blobeye STI PPP work in progress
After a brief ride on the Darkside I'm back on the thumper side.
I'll try to keep this thread updated with any fresh modifications.
2004 STI PPP 305BHP
74,000 miles
Standard apart from Prodrive mudflaps and paintwork swirls.
When I got the car
And the swirls
As I was getting rid of the swirls the first mod took place.
Bootlid was de-badged. I removed the SUBARU lettering and WRX Impreza lettering as everyone knows what it is.
Before
After
Next up was the headlights for a de-tango and darken.
Headlights removed
Heated and separated, orange indicator plastic removed and Silvatec bulbs installed.
Finished lights

Im still undecided on which colour to go for on the rims, had originally planned satin black, then thought matt black, then thought gloss black but now Im thinking a metallic charcoal black or very very dark bronze ?

I'd go for gloss charcoal black wheels. The gloss finish will match the (no doubt ) highly polished paintwork. Seen a few black cars with very dark / black wheels and they look the part.

Yep, not too keen on the wheels either, I have a set of 18's that I am currently refurbing, so I'll stick up a few pics soon.

Got a set of these last week, and got some paint today.
I went for a Honda colour "Romanesque bronze" its a very dark bronze colour and slight metallic content.
Have the rims sanded and primed etc. so will get stuck into them at the weekend and plenty of laquer on top.

Heres a pic of the rims getting painted.
Used the tried and tested method of balancing on a bottle of Buckfast and turning the rim to get the inner edge of the spokes and inner lip sprayed
I'll build up a good few layers of laquer and let them sit for a week or two before the tyres get fitted
I thought the silver centre caps would look a bit out of place, so I masked off the Inovit symbol and started to spray them. I'll see what it looks like when the masking tape comes off tomorrow.
primed
Finished pic of de-badged front grill

Can I ask a really noob question? How do you de-badge the scooby (Or any car I guess). I am looking to do this and im petrified of taking the paint off etc. Do you need to use filler from where the holes are?

If so, just heat them with a hair dryer and get some fishing line behind the badge, use a sawing motion with the fishing line and remove each badge, then some Tardis or adhesive remover to remove the left overs.
On the grill the centre badge has to be cut out, smoothed, filled, smoothed again, primed and painted

Got the rims finished, I applied numerous coats of laquer and left them to dry for a good few days, then wet sanded the spokes and then worked at them with the DA polisher 3M pad and 3M extra fine compound to get an even better finish. After a final polish they were coated with Collinite 476s wax.
pics were taken on phone so theyre not the best
Wet sanding in progress
Laquer on spokes flattened down
All polished up
Just need to get the tyres on now and fitted to the car
