Try Keith Micheals for insurance (make sure you ask for Gary Moulson - Moley on here) or have a look through the insurance section. It needs a fair bit of tidying looking at the pics. Clutch will set you back a fair few quid, by time you've sorted it out it might not be such a bargain

Check your vin plate under the bonnet. Its on passenger side near the bulkhead.
You will find the codes on the VIN plate.

Does it have electric windows or that? As far as I know the RA is all about being lightweight, so doesnt have an electric pack.

yes has electric windows, so kinda narrows it down, the guy i got it off said it was bout 300bhp-ish, turbo back stainless, dump valve, re-mapped. can see the stainless and dumpy, any way to check on it being remapped?
its a 2.0 turbo and goes like F%$k i no that lol

If you have an electric pack you can rule out the RA i think.

Next thing that might help is Im pretty sure the classic JDM WRX's redline at 7000 and the STi's redline is 500rpm higher. Could be wrong Im sure someone will correct me if I am.

Hope this helps

Mind you if it has been mapped, the chances are that the rev limiter has been raised. This was the case on my last wrx

Just look under the bonnet, think its a wrx wagon though, if it were an sti you would see all the badges/stickers and a number denoting which one of 100 it is, plus if that rot is deep in the wings (dont go by the surface rust, its normally worse underneath than it looks on the surface) you could be in for a bill in excess of 1k to sort it.

Welcome Andy.
Your car looks like a WRX Wagon to me

I would personally check the for sale sections on here and see who is breaking a prefacelift silver classic and replace the:
headlights, front bumper and bonnet scoop back to original ones.

The car has potential but with all due respect at the moment it looks a bit Max Power

Clutch wise put in a half decent one (Genuine Exedy/Blue Print) as it saves having to do the job twice.

All the best H

Got a pair headlights to change bk already, bonnet and bumper is next on the agenda.

You think that the insurance co everyone talks bout on ere will be cheaper than 4300k to insure?

The engine codes match up to the wrx sti v1 and the wrx 5door? its got electric windows etc and is fookin quick, any other ways to decipher the exact model?

It would have a plaque if it was an Sti of that year, I'd say it's a wrx wagon and 300 with those mods may be a bit optimistic

where would the plaque be?

its supposed to have a tdo5 turbo, trying to find out what model car i got so can see if the turbo is uprated.

it revs straight thru the red dont limit at 7000rpm either like someone said?

got the insurance down to 2900 roughly now, still shopping about but keith micheals was the cheapest so far.
